Atmosphere is running now on my Switch. Thanks tons @Draxzelex and @Hayato213.

Tomorrow I will update the firmware to 11.0.1.
Is it recommended to use emuMMC or should I simply update sysMMC directly?

It is totally up to you. The only reasons to use an emuMMC include being able to downgrade to a lower firmware version without burning fuses, brick protection, or using it offline for CFW/homebrew in order to keep sysMMC clean for online play. emuMMC is only recommended for those reasons.

I copied Firmware 11.0.1 to the SD card and used Daybreak to update (preserve settings & FAT32 + exFAT). Update process succeeded.

Now I am facing more issues:

1. When I reboot the Switch a message pops up that says that the inserted game card cannot be read or something with the console is wrong (in the background I see the startup dashboard screen). When I remove the card it the switch works.
   I read about a nogc setting in BCT.ini and autonogc setting in hekate_ipl.ini.
   I have no BCT.ini file and autonogc is set to 1 in hekate_ipl.ini.
   So if I boot atmosphere by injecting hekate and I want to launch a game card autonogc must be set to 0 and if I inject fusee-primary to boot atmosphere I have to create BCT.ini and set nogc to 0. Correct so far?
   That setting should prevent updating the game card reader to prevent burn fuses. Could that happen if I disable that option?
   
   
2. 'Corrupted data' on a few installed games. Do I need to copy more sigpatches to the SD card? Do I need to reinstall those games again?
   I copied more sigpatches to the SD card from here https://github.com/ITotalJustice/patches/releases/tag/11.0.1-0.17.1
   But it still does not work, no matter if injecting hekate or fusee-primary.

About the RCM jig
Also, any preferences between RCM jigs? I know I shouldn't rely on 3D printed ones. But I've seen plenty of XKit jigs (the red ones) as well as the official SX jigs. Sure they both get the job done. But quality wise should I get one instead of the other?


About NAND and emuNAND (reverting everything for online play)
Let's say that I:

• Backed up my NAND before anything else;
• Created an emuNAND;
• Blocked all online communications;
• Never enabled AutoRCM;
• But indeed installed a bunch of NSP backup games (with is a bannable behaviour);

If I decide to boot on the OFW in order to play Smash Bros online or someday give up on this hacking life, is it possible to start again from a clean state or somehow my activities on emuNAND can affect my NAND? In this scenario how can I be good to go as if nothing happened?

Do I have to restore the NAND backup in order to clean it again or my NAND will never be touched if I keep using the emuNAND on the SD card?

1. Well if autonogc is set to 1, that means its enabled. Autonogc AUTOmatically applies the NOGC patch which renders the cartridge slot unusable to prevent it from being irreversibly updated. The reason being is that there may be a possibility of an exploit on a lower firmware that requires a non-up-to-date cartridge slot so updating it would prevent you from using said exploit. If you don't mind irreversibly updating your cartridge slot, you can disable autonogc but keep in mind that this will also prevent you from any cartridges on firmware versions below 11.0. Think about it carefully before making a decision

The jig you use doesn't actually matter as much as you think. The reason being is that you can enable AutoRCM thus removing the need for the jig after the first boot.

The whole purpose of emuMMC is to act like a separate environment from sysMMC. If either one of them affected the other, then something would be very wrong.

1. Personally I have to update it because I own cartridges that I use for online play so without updating my slot, I cannot use them online. Objectively, not updating your cartridge slot is better because you can always install your cartridges as .NSP files if you don't mind playing them offline only

Well there are ways of mitigating those reasons you gave for using exFAT. You can use USB or network install for .NSP files larger than 4 FB with FAT32 and Hekate supports restoring split eMMC backups now. There is no reason to use exFAT nowadays unless you are lazy.

I formatted the SD with FAT32. The corrupted data message still occurs. Simply performing the check fixes the issue

I want an EMUMMC for sinning and to keep my sysnand clean so I can play a couple multiplayer games online without much risk(or at least less risk). Rather not be banned but I can make do with offline primarily.

Should I just have one EMUMMC and then update my OFW for online?

Or should I be running 2 EMUMMC(One dirty, one clean for online so fuses don't burn) and keep my OFW untouched? I see some people advocate this but is there any reason other than holding out hope for untethered cold-boot that requires a specific OFW?

I would use this guide, skip then launching step then setup the emummc

So if you don't use AutoRCM you can set your atmosphere to automatically boot the EmuMMC when you inject hekate/Fusee-primary and if nothing is injected and you boot normally it will launch stock

A crazy little thing called usb install, also please tell me your sd card isn't exfat, if it is, change that

So I have switch unpatched running OFW 10.2 and Hecake 5.3.3 AMS 0.14.4
When I booti have CFW - sysMMC and CFW - emuMMC. I always go to emuMMC. in system setting under the system it shows as 10.2.0|AMS 0.14.4|E

Tried upgrading by following this guide: nh-server . github . io / switch-guide / extras / updating / #updating-hekate
But I've stopped at point of " Updating your firmware"
When i boot and go to emuMMC and then in system setting under the system it shows as "update available instead of what i think should be 10.2.0|AMS 0.17.1|E

Anyone would have any idea what have i missed? Am i able to update just my emuMMC?

If you don't want to consider yourself a pirate and/or guarantee a brick-free dump, then yes. Otherwise you could download your games illegally from the Internet. Of course, I cannot help you with any places on where to find those.

If the console has any Internet settings and you don't block the connection with Nintendo's servers, system updates are always automatically downloaded; this is a feature that cannot be disabled.

With regards to updating, there is usually no issue but on firmware 11.0, there is an update for the cartridge slot. This update is irreversible and prevents cartridges from being using on any firmware below 11.0. Not updating your cartridge slot can be relevant for a future exploit that requires a lower firmware and an un-updated cartridge slot. If you care about this, there is a way to prevent the update via nogc. What nogc does is "break" your cartridge slot because if the cartridge slot is not working then it cannot be updated. However it is also fine if you don't care but remember that you cannot undo the cartridge slot update. So in essence you have 2 options: either update the cartridge slot and never be able to use carts on firmware versions below 11.0 or irreversibly update the cartridge slot in order to use cartridges on firmware versions on 11.0 and higher.
