Wait... THIS IS FOR REAL!?

This is really surprising, I never thought I would see any PS1 game playable on the Old 3DS,How did you manage to do that?, it's great to see that there are still people who do things for the Old 3DS instead of focusing all the attention on the New 3DS.

Could other games like Crash 2 or MegaMan X5 be playable on the Old 3DS too?

runs a bit slow if you ask me. Still, sorta playable i guess. But in megaman speed and perfect timing with the buttons is crucial i dunno if i'd play it like that.
Can you try Digimon World? it uses prerendered backgrounds so maybe O3DS can handle it?
ill try

there's this software called CHDMAN that comes with MAME and apparently does everything for you. I just got a 193mb CHD out of a 372mb bin-cue game (for this game, digimon world 1). I'mma try with this. Do the tutorial nonetheless, it'll help people

TUTORIAL:
1)Download the latest stable (or nightly) of Retroarch the 3dsx (the Hombrew Launcher one) of it

2)Grab your games in .bin and .cue

3)Use CHDMAN to convert it to CHD (https://mega.nz/file/Nt8mmagJ#rmo7oE5qCakjJsLWdzZqCCVhXTD1__7Ubwo6nTkD5CM)

4)Put your games in the CHDMAN folder, click CUE to CHD.bat

5)When finished put the .chd (in the CHDMAN folder) files to 3ds sd card, open Retroarch and go to settings then modify these settings:

DRIVERS->Audio=Null

DRIVERS->Audio Resampler=Null

Video->Bilinear Filtering=OFF
Video->Synchronization-> ALL OFF

Audio->ALL OFF OR NULL

6)Then load the .chd game with PCSX core and then touch the bottom half of the screen

7)Press B until you find quick menu and then press it then options then copy these settings

8)While in there turn off: Sound reverb
Sound interpolation

Use frameskip when the game is slow

There WILL be NO AUDIO

Any reason why you're using the latest 'stable' build? Having issues with the latest nightly builds?

The 'stable' builds don't really take the 3ds port in account. So theres no real advantage in using them.

There have been quite a few improvements since the latest stable, and i can only recommend using the latest nightly builds.

    yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
