Nintendo has quietly delisted over 250 DSiWare games from the North American 3DS eShop

Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. 35 won't be the only games Nintendo delists in 2021. It seems that DSiWare games are vanishing from the eShop without any warning. More than 250 DSiWare games, including Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Mighty Flip Champs, and more have been delisted and are no longer available to buy. While the DSi Shop was previously shut down in 2017, users could still purchase these DSiWare titles on the Nintendo 3DS line of systems. Currently, this appears to be impacting the North American eShop specifically, as the European and Japanese versions still have most of their library intact for now.

I may get some hate for this but I don't see the big deal.... if people REALLY want those games on the shop they can pirate them.

Piracy is good because you can play older games because if you leave it up to the companies they will be non-existent or force you to buy the remake or gimmick collectors edition.

Nintendo is dumb. If they publicized they were doing this there would have been an influx of dsiware purchases. Now that they just yeeted it they lost out on this opportunity in those specific regions

I didn't even know there were that many DSi titles. I had Photo Dojo, Flipnote Studio, Inchworm Animation, the Wario Ware one, the one where the birds eat the falling beans, and the paper airplane one, and I believe the latter two were Wario Ware minigames made into standalone titles.

Finally someone with the same opinion like me. Piracy its a problem service and price.

Steam gives better prices and its very rare to see some games delisted in their platform.Nintendo its very famous dont give discounts like Mario,Zelda or Metroid Games and delisted their games. because its anti friendly consumer company like EA,they give a huge fuck them for their loyal fanbase.
the delisting thing seems to be more of a recent plague...though at the same time they have actually started doing sales on there first party games recently...this isn't exactly the trade off I wanted >.<

Wouldn't be surprised if it were somehow erroneous. I don't think it's saving any server space if they're still available for redownload.

I already saw one post on Reddit saying "zomg I need to get the games for preservation!!!" As if every DSiware game hasn't been spread on the Internet in a conveniently-downloadable package a hundred times over at this point.

The one DSiware game I was sort of interested in was X-Scape, but it never went on sale for a price sufficient to justify its purchase, considering I have a zillion other things to play already.

Anyway as I already pointed out, the 3DS was released in 2010. Nothing lasts forever.
And we're not even talking about games that were originally released for the 3DS here.

So Nintendo is ok with piracy now?.....
Why the heck would you think that?

That's why I never trust eShop for to buy digital games to download. Nintendo company is trying to mess with eShop that would affect some or most people would get very angry then fill complaint in court to do lawsuits against Nintendo.

What happened if Nintendo end support for eShop on Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS? That will be very bad! :(

I'm old school always stick with physical copy of game discs forever. I'm not fans of digital download from eShop and PlayStation store. I find out that why digital is trash means take our digital games away and no way to get back when company end support on them. Thanks god I don't have to worry about it.

Have you realized that Nintendo has opted for mobile games?

Literally almost anyone has a smartphone nowadays. It's easier for Nintendo to release "portable" games via Smartphone than spending money creating a new portable console.
Besides, the Switch Lite is literally that, a replacement for the 3ds... Or do you seriously think they removed the docking function just because they can?

That is exactly what they did, they removed the docking function so they could sell it for less money.
And the Switch Lite is still a small tablet, not something that fits in your pocket. Especially clamshell designs work well with that.
Just checked it out of curiousity, a ps vita still fits in my pocket.

....and nothing of value was lost.
I mean, the DSiWare service did have a decent amount of high quality games but most of them were first party games (stuff like X-Scape, Aura Aura Climber, etc.) and there were a good dozen or so high quality third party games (like Shantae Risky's Revenge) but I will say that yeah alot of the DSiWare library is garbage

imo they didnt need to redesign the whole thing, they could have easily made a package that only had the tablet and joycons for 200 dollars, and that would've let you upgrade later down the line
