I've had this console almost since it first launched. This problem occurred 2 months ago, I had air conditioning on and the switch was on the floor docked, so my guess is that some dust went through the vents, not 100% though.

- Is there a way to fix that?(warranty expired) I dont mind if it just makes noise, i care if it's deadly.

- Is it deadly? If yes, is it something i can fix on my own?

thx for replying, ive seen you on many threads

is it deadly? if much dust gets in will it be over or will it just make noise?

i dont have the needed screwdriver rn so if not deadly might do it in the future

Deadly probably no, it probably just going to be noisy if you did got dust around the fan area, good idea to give it a cleaning so it has better air circulation.

Just to add to this, the GF had this exact issue with her Switch last year. Cleaning the fan didn't work and I ended up having to replace the whole thing.

It was a pretty straight forward process tho, and we got a new fan off ebay for £9.

It could be deadly if you do not change the fan, overheating danger.
The Fan costs 10$ and comes with screwdriver

Oh. it doesn't overheat, i have another switch, and both have around the same level of heatness(the other doesnt make the sound) i think its just the blades or sth. it doesnt get hot.

Hi. I have the same issue and already opened a thread months before without getting any help.

It's the fan making this "buzzing". But it's not because the fan is faulty.

I tried 3 different fans and all of them are "buzzing".

Maybe there is something which is regulating the voltage for the fan is damaged.

It's only buzzing when the screen is off.

Sounds like either crap in the fan or the fan itself is saying bye bye

It seems we have a different problem, this problem occurs only in the first 5-10 minutes of gameplay, after that the sound stops but the fan still works. When it is sleeping, its more quiet than quiet, since the fan shouldn't work while in sleep mode (except when it is severely overheated and need to cool down fast)

Can you check with this Tesla addon?

Just to see if you can see something out of the ordinary. Because for me it sounds like a bearing is starting to go ill.

what's a bearing?
All fans have something called an ball bearing.
It what makes the fan spin. A motor start turning the ball bearing and it makes the fan spin. If we didn't have ball bearings we could never enjoy a fan spinning. Since it would entangle a cord.

If you wanna go nerdy click this

Tesla can't brick your Switch. If someone breaks and you can't boot. You just delete the ".overlay" folder in Switch, on your sd card.

I mean it will not overheat right away but in time the bearing will be dead.
I repaired around 10 of them, all 2017,18 models
