is it normal that the RTC just resets to 12 AM occasionally?
12AM exactly? That sounds like a bug. When the battery is dead, I believe the time just stops being updated when the console is off. The battery drains pretty fast though, so if it's not precisely 12AM each and every time, it may just be a dead battery.

is it normal that the RTC just resets to 12 AM occasionally? Asking because i wasn't sure if this was a problem with this kernel or
my RTC battery dying as I've only had this cart for about a year so I thought it should have life in it.

I've only seen this happen with this kernel on the later versions like 7.3 and 7.4.

Your RTC battery is dying. If you have an Omega Definitive Edition it's a simple swap with another CR1025 cell. The original Omega uses a soldered CR1220. If you're not playing games that rely on the RTC then I'd suggest turning it off in the settings, because the battery is very low capacity and only lasts 1-2 years.

Oh okay, thank you.
