I'm willing to bet that theflow would've found an easy and safe downgrading method if not for rasputin pissing him off. believe me, I know, my friend, I got into an argument with rasputin many years ago (met him on usenet before the ps3 scene), and he added "butthurt" to my ps3 tutorials after banning me. he's hated by a lot by devs (banned deank on the same site for pretty much the same thing he doesn't like theflow for). he believes devs should donate their time for no benefit of their own and should not take credit for anything. I'm surprised anyone puts up with that shit as rasputin's site was mentioned when the ps4 downgrading method was found. it said, "add this to your site" or something to that effect. having been close to the inner circle of the ps3 scene, I gotta say the playstation scenes are the most fucked up scenes I've ever seen. it's like children.

theflow went back to the vita. he even has a new exploit, which I can't remember the name of. it hasn't been mentioned on temp or psx place. this was/is after the ps4 exploit was divulged. he said he felt more at home in the vita scene I believe. the exploit is supposed to make it even easier to hack the system.

Let see for the PS4 it is just an exploit not a CFW, so no full access to the system. The exploit requires a kernel exploit and a WebKit, that why 7.02 doesn't have an exploit right now as there is a kernel exploit but no WebKit.

The exploit allows you to gain access to the debug menu, treating the unit like a development unit, in return you are allowed to install games in package format, the exploit use games in fake package format allowing games to be run without checking if you legally bought it or not.

I'm assuming all 0s as the pass phrase = no passphrase. I think that's how it is on the ps3. a klicense of all 0s means no klicense. we pretty much let the system do all the work. pfs (protected file system) hasn't and probably never will be defeated. it's not even defeated on the vita. we just found a way to bypass it on both systems. what the system does is remove pfs from the content and places the files in the sandbox directory. we have a way to dump the games from that directory using a payload, but before that, we had to ftp the content. the payload only works for games and updates. themes and dlc stilll must be done manually. I'm not sure what this means, but the folder, at least for themes, that content is put into contains the content id plus ac. there's also a nested folder right underneath it. you don't need the nested folder to create a theme or dlc fix as I think it's related to pfs in some way.

making a fix is very easy to do with psdlc (think that's the name). all it needs is the content id. because pfs has been bypassed, all content essentially uses the same fix which is 128KBs. I think all of them might be that size. I've been dumping themes (about 30 so far) for someone, and all the theme fixes are 128KBs apiece. games and patches don't need these, only dlc and themes do. as I've said before, there's a certain site that will remain nameless that tries to tout off these fixes as hacking. um, no, just no. anyone can do it. these fixes are only for unlocking the theme or dlc from an official package. once that's done, a fake package will no longer need them afaik.

there's a learning curve to the ps4. I did/do find it much more restrictive than say the ps3, but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. the whole dumping thing is time consuming, but not really difficult. it took me about an hour to dump 13 themes a couple days ago. the thing that kinda sucks about payloads is that the ftp one must be redone after installing each theme or going into the settings menu.

So in conclusion, does that mean that a modded PS4 currently has less to offer in the homebrew department than a xbox 360?

so whats the best console to hack for homebrew?

probably the ps3. even now, updates are being made. even though the 360 is better than the ps4 when it comes to what you can do with a hacked one, its homebrew is seriously lacking. the emulators feel like early builds and incomplete. some haven't been updated in years either.
