It still proved that someone was able to remake the game, but Nintendo knows their audience so they didn't even care to remaster, at the very least.
No? There are barely any levels in it. It's only the castle and the courtyard.
Remaking the entire game would be much, much more difficult. And not a single person has done it yet.

Original... So, the Japanese version? :P That is the original, after all.
Don't play semantics with me. You know what I mean.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In my view this ain't an All Stars successor.

Remember the original All Stars? All games were reworked, improved, patched and loved. This is just a bunch of games that were recompiled for the Switch without afterthought.

I'll pirate it, so they can shove the limited availability and unwillingness to work in the Switch's slot.

They actually broke the collision physics in All-Stars (LOL) but if that's an improvement, ok then.
See this fix here for a visual representation of what I mean.

nintendo lost its greatness decades ago, all they do now is cheap inferior hardware to recycle the same shit 24/7, to the point now that they cant even be bothered and port its old shit, or pass off to another company.

since the n64 that (for me) is when nintendo started going down hill and to be fair i wish theyd just quit the console market and just become a game dev, no point buying nintendo consoles to play old shit dating back to ps2 because nintendo cant get the support, due to having shit hardware.

im confident its intentional to limit 3rd party support so it gives its shit priority of sales.

but lets see what they crap out when theyre forced to make a new console once ps5/xbxsx launch, fat chance the switch will be able to compete as it cant even compete to the ps3

but yea this so called reworked game is a pile of shit, hackers have done a far better job
lol... The Switch is my favorite device, period.
If Nintendo had stopped making systems everything would be incredibly boring.

good for you, as for boring whats boring is buying a new console to play old games you already own.

i dont think the world would miss nintendo consoles to play the same old recycled nintendo titles, god nintendo cant even be arsed anymore and are porting its old crap and as for mario64, done a pretty piss poor job at it too, claim to its deluded fans its been improved LMFAO the public release is far better.

but you're kidding yourself if you say that the Nintendo isn't doing well right now.
yeah we'll see when the ps5 is released. their backwards, stubborn outdated thinking will only get them so far for so long. it won't work anymore they either get with the fucking program and join the rest of the world or fuck off to the mobile market and stay there. than they can re-release all the OLD games they want again and again and fill it with miocro$ garbage!

i can see nintendo backtrack (remember when they stated the switch is not a replacement of the 3DS), as its seen the 3DS has slowly been phased out, lacking support, i bet nintendo will announce the switch will become their handheld console and come the launch of the PS5/XBXSX, the switch simply will fail to get any support (thats already lacking) for new titles.

So nintendo will likely release yet again another half arsed inferior console with some form of gimmick, if the fans are lucky theyll be able to play PS4/XBX1 titles.

and again to prove how bad nintendo have got, nintendo are already a generation in front, due to inferior cheap gimmicky crap consoles that cant compete, nintendo have to release another just to keep up, the switch gen wise is equivalent to the PS5/XBXSX (generation wise, not hardware psml)

I couldn't justify buying a Switch, when it costs more than PS4, which is more powerful and has better games. I have already PS3, PS4, Wii and Wii U which have most of the interesting games on the Switch. Also Joy Cons look crappy.

I think this can be put to bed....
The switch is basically the Wii U but revised model does it lack innovation yes but it brings in $$$. I dont blame NIntendo look at Rockstar with GTA V

$$$ > Innovation

Along as the cash flow keeps running it will always be like this. Veteran Players are not their main source of income the new players are. Think of it like high-school some kids graduate and move on to better but new kids come in to take their place.

Pretty much that, you guys take nintendo too seriously when comparing it with PS4/Xbox... Nintendo is a family-friendly and a kids console, aside that it has the nostalgic complement that made me buy one, if they take this from Nintendo they will be left with the kids only.
And for everybody saying they are doing wrong just look their god damn numbers. Hell I totally forgot about Nintendo since N64 my first portable was a game & watch in 1990 my parents gave me a game Boy and the switch brought me back to the company after dunno decades? Maybe because it has a little bit of both?

I want to revisit my childhood and I can't do that on a PS4.

Nah, we know the switch pro 4k is coming. There's been too many leaks about it. They're going to wait to announce anything though until switch sales start to plateau to fuck as many people over as possible to repurchase their console again instead of waiting for the soon successor

Well won't work with me, I will definitely buy a PS5 when it launches but I would never buy a switch 4K as the switch does just fine for my portability and nostalgic purposes. If I can play NES/SNES all Mario titles a couple of Zeldas and some indie games well thats good enough thats the sole reason I bought a switch.

Nintendo has lost some of the charm because of the success of the Switch, but I wouldn't say that they've lost their greatness. They make a lot of dumb decisions, but to the general public of consumers who don't keep a stern eye on Nintendo (unless the news is really big, like Joycon drift), then they won't care about Nintendo reusing old games for a collection. In fact, I'd say the Switch has something for everyone, no matter what opinion or little nitpick you have on it. They're a trustworthy brand for parents who want a console for their kid (Sony and Microsoft do this poorly, IMO), a company with a lot of reputable IPs behind their back, most of which everybody loves, and they're the most innovative in the gaming industry. Switch is successful because it's made for everyone of any diversity. PS and Xbox are not marketable towards anybody who isn't a gamer, but a Switch most certainly is. That's why I think Nintendo hasn't lost their greatness at all, and the sales show.

TL;DR: Nintendo is great because they market games for everyone, not just for gamers.

P.S. Switch is ultimately better in the UI menu department because Microsoft and Sony have horrible menu UIs filled with ads and garbage, when the Switch just shows you your games. It just werks.

How is PlayStation and Xbox not great for kids? They have loads of different games on there to play and one of the most popular is GTA V which isn't on the Switch.

You're coming off as a defensive fanboy, but I see your point even though it's flawed.

I didn't say that Sony and Microsoft's consoles were not good for kids, I just said they did it poorly. Nintendo has overall a better impact on kids, and a better reputation with parents. The reason why I come off as biased and bugman like for Nintendo is because I grew up on it, and never got competitive brands before I was in my teen years. If I grew up with GTA5 rather than Super Mario Galaxy, I would have grown up very differently.

Any tried Sony ports?

If Nintendo wanted to make a great port/remake they can, just look at Wind Waker HD.

Too bad Switch owner's (most of which are bandwagon jumpers) will probably never get to play this great port/remake.

For cost savings they opted to port three 3D Mario games from three different generations and put it into one package for the 35th Mario anniversary.

If they wanted to, they could have port/remake each game but it would be sold separate at a higher price.

Lastly, I feel like this is rushed port...

Nintendo probably only started working on the project after rumors emerged online of a Super Mario 3D All-Stars (I mean the project probably already existed but was not green lit).

Nintendo may have thought Paper Mario The Origami King, Mario Kart Live Home Circuit and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe would be enough for the anniversary.

Such a remake would require basically remaking the entire game. At that point, why not make a new game instead? I'd rather have a new game than a HD remake of the exact same game, with the same old gameplay and dated level design.
Such a remake would be a huge undertaking, and Nintendo has limited resources to spend on developing new games, which means if they remade Super Mario 64 it would come at the cost of getting one less new game. Do you really want that?

I wouldn't mind just having some improved textures and models, and a new lighting/shading engine. That would go a long way towards making the game feel modern again, without a complete remake. It would still obviously be an old game, lacking the same degree of polish as newer games, but that's OK. I'm getting 3 games for the price of one though, so I can't complain.
If they were full remasters, rather than just ports, they'd be charging full price and selling them individually. I don't think it's a bad price for 3 ports, especially when 2 of them look great in HD.
because some games did not age well, take for example pokemon RBY, they are extremely dated games, now compare them to their remakes, they took everything good, and discarded all that did not work, the result? masterpieces
