I'd like to use an external HD to load XCI's with SXOS. The models I have are powered through a single 3.0USB (with no external power supply whatsoever).
I've read people recommend using a Y cable because you might burn the USB port on the switch, but the port on the back is 3.0 and in theory supports my drives (5.0v 1.0A), is there any reason for me to use a Y cable? Is the port on the dock actually USB3.0 standard compliant?

ok,but, are the newest atmos works downwards too?
The assumption is that every release of CFW is compatible with every firmware version released before. Its not like CFW releases only work on the latest firmware version of their release. That would be incredibly silly and inconsistent.

general concensus is that it would work with majority of lower firmware, you might run into a case where the latest build doesn't work due to the system firmware being really really low. Typically no problems for the general pubilc.

Hello, I created a SD FILES BASED EmuMMC but Atmosphere crashes every time I try do install something on the "Nand" part, do I need to do something else?

And before someone asks: I'm not going to use a Partition based EmuMMC because yesterday I tried to move a movie from my PC to my SD card (like I always do), and idk how but the hidden partition of that shitty thing got corrupted and I lost my Emummc.
Thanks for the help.

Updated my firmware using Choidojour, but choosed FAT instead of ExFAT(my SD-card was indeed Exfat, Duh!), now Atmosphere won´t boot.

I´m doing a backup of my SD-card now, format it to FAT, copy the essential files back on the SD, then run Choidojour again. Will this help?

Yes, that will help. You have two options to fix your problem:
  1. Reformat the main SD card as FAT32.
  2. Get a different SD card that's on FAT32 and reinstall the system update with exFAT support.
It is highly recommended that you use FAT32 on your primary SD card, since the Switch's exFAT drivers increase the likelihood of data corruption.

Out of curiosity, why are you using an emuMMC? A lot of people setup and emuMMC when they wouldn't benefit from it.

I haven't been banned yet so I use the sysnand to play online games sometimes :^

I'm pissed off at how partition emummc works, can't believe you can't even try to fix it if the hidden partition gets a slightly touch, I would've preferred to get a brick, at least you can fix that lmao

Yeah, before all this bullshit I wasn't but I've updated everything now. I don't know if something else needs to be done to install games on the "Nand" tho

Also, I get Smash lagging when selecting stages and characters, that's from this Emummc format right?

I would recommend switching to a partition based emuMMC. You can make backups of your emuMMC and restore it if anything happens.

That's the point: partition based EmuMMC is fucking shit.

For what I've experienced it can get corrupted anytime and you will lose everything because it can't be fixed. I know that a nand backup should do the trick, but I can't do backups every single time I want to move something to my SD and hope nothing gets broken lmao

I don't know what you're doing with your setup, but most people don't appear to have issues with their partition-based emuMMC.

I've been using a Partition based EmuMMC for the last 6 months without problems, everything worked great, but I moved a movie from my PC to my SD card using Hekate (something that I always do) and it got corrupted.
I don't know why but this tells me that there maybe be a small chance of things getting broken just by having a hidden partition, and again, it's awful how you are unable to fix a corrupted partition.

Hi, mega n00b here,
I get an eternal black screen on emuMMC CFW.
Should I Update? I presume not as my eMMC CFW is ok.

I can provide any other information if needed.
Thanks, d1ddle

Currently on 10.0.4
AMS 0.14.1
Hekate v5.3.2

Remove the atmosphere folder from your SD card and redownload the latest version of Atmosphere. What happens?

Same result. I get the hekate logo, ams logo, then switch logo, and then, black screen with backlight.
I did try reverting to ams 0.12.0, and It booted once. Then same result.
Im trying to use the latest sigpatches for fusee-secondary and hbg shop.
Just can't seem to get it to work.

Any other ideas?

Bro, by "backlight" you mean a black screen that you can turn on and off pressing the power button? If it's like that then maybe your Emummc got corrupted, same as me, and most likely you lost everything. Hope you have a emummc backup.
