I just finished playing through one of my first PCVR games boneworks through oculus link and personally while the ending wasn't too great the game its self is one of my favorite games of all time and my favorite vr game. Now I'm lost looking for a new game to play. I want to try alyx but i do not have 60 dollars to throw at a vr game lol. So whats some of your favorite? (PCVR or Quest)

Good choices! beat saber is loads of fun even without modding and rec room is an amazing replacement for vrchat and loads of fun. I would play VRChat on quest but its so laggy and also you're limited in models and its an overall bad experience. recroom is the best social game imo for the quest.

There's quiet a few amazing VR titles.
Here's a tip: Roughly 90% of SteamVR games can be played with an Oculus headset. SteamVR generally has better performance as well, so even if you do use Oculus, I would say to get your games on Steam, as well as Oculus Tray Tool.
However, HTC headsets don't have anywhere near as much third-party support as Oculus headsets.
Here's a few games from me:

Rec Room -
An amazing VR social club that takes place in a 1980's college. Considered by many to be the Wii Sports of VR, Rec Room has so many things to offer. There's also currently five games called "Quests". These quests on their own are enough to make a full game:
Golden Trophy: A medieval goblin-slaying game.
Crimson Cauldron: It feels pretty much like Zelda in VR.
Jumbotron: A first person robot-themed shooter taking place in the 3000's.
Lost Skulls: You play as pirates sneaking into a cave full of treasure!
And last but not least:
Crescendo of the Blood Moon-
It's Castlevania VR. Need I say more?

But those are just the quests. There are a plethora of games to play in Rec Room! Players can even make and share their own rooms. Or if you aren't antisocial as HECK like I am, there's also countless rooms to just hang out with friends.

***

VRchat -
Easily the best VR game when it comes to hanging out, socializing, and making friends. The only issue pretty much everyone has with the game is the performance. And that it isn't on playstation yet.
But for just being a social game, it is BEAUTIFUL graphically. But if you don't want to murder your computer I'd suggest using the Low VR quality settings. To switch to this, hold SHIFT while the game is starting up. I had much better performance with this mode, and I'd suggest it for everyone. Only thing is, it reduces particles a LOT. This was the first thing I noticed, since the map I frequent most is a disco room that has much more special effects than I thought at first.

***

Beat Saber -
I've never been a fan of music games, and I can't see this as much more than a tech demo. I got it for $20 but awhile later the official price was bumped up to $40. I personally feel like even 20 was a bit too much for the game. None of the music even suits my taste. It's one of those games that isn't really anything without the mods.

***

Job Simulator/Vacation Simulator -
One of the most enjoyable and quirky VR game series out there, these simulators have quite a bit of replay value. Job simulator makes 'work' fun! And even has an endless 'night shift' mode that randomizes your tasks so you can play for hours!
Vacation simulator is about exploring and doing, well, vacation activities. This game suits both people who want to adventure during vacations, and people who want to sit around and do absolutely nothing during vacations.

***

Richie's Plank Experience -
If I were having you experience VR for the first time, this is without a doubt the first game I'd have you play. A psychological horror experience that shows just how convincing VR can be! You stand on a plank hanging off the edge of a skyscraper. Most people are absolutely terrified when it's their first time. There's also quite a few extra modes and features to explore!

***

Pavlov VR -
Arguably the best VR shooter. Most people play a Trouble in Terrorist Town mode, but there's also solo modes. And if you know anything about guns (which I don't. I blew myself up countless times in the tutorial when they taught you how to use a grenade), then this game could be the one for you!
There's not too much to say, but I'd heavily suggest going on the Steam workshop and getting a bunch of mods/maps.

***

Desert Bus VR -
Just a shitpost. You can tell what it is from the title alone.

***

3DSEN VR -
An NES emulator that made it to Steam somehow! But that's not all, the purpose of this emulator is that you select an NES ROM... And it lets you play the game in 3D! This is amazing for nostalgia. And if you're not sure, you can try a free demo.

*********
And that's all I have for this list.
Here's a few side notes:

Rec Room: Available on Steam, Oculus, Windows Mixed Reality, PS4, and IOS! Does NOT require a headset.
Community is known to have quite a few toxic people. But there's also a few rare players that are just amazing.
Lots of stuff to do.

VRchat: Available on Oculus and Steam. Does NOT require VR to play.
Community known to have quite a lot of horny people. (You read that right)
Best social VR game.

Beat Saber: Everyone loves it except me, which is why I included it.
Available of PS4, Oculus, Steam
VR REQUIRED.
Default volume is ridiculously loud. Keep it quiet until you try a song, then adjust it.
I'd suggest waiting for a sale before you get it.

Job/Vacation Simulator: I'd recommend you try this at least once.
Available on: Steam, Oculus, PS4

Richie's Plank Experience: If you're getting into VR, start with this game. I have a horrible fear of heights. If I survived this game, you can too. Wouldn't suggest non-VR veterans to try this alone.
Available on: PS4, Steam, Oculus.

Pavlov: Would only really suggest this if you have friends to play it with. Playing it alone is like Kaizo James Bond.
Available on: Oculus, Steam

Desert Bus VR: Dear god don't do it alone.
Available on: Steam, Oculus, PSVR

3DSEN VR: Nostalgic. The end.
Available on: Steam, Oculus

All SteamVR games, and in no particular order:

Half-Life Alyx: set the new gold standard for narrative-driven VR shooters, not a lot of explanation required for this one. I need to check out a bunch of mods.

Pistol Whip: top-notch rhythm shooter game that makes you feel like John Wick. No official support for custom stages, so that's a bit of a downer, but still worth every penny for the excitement and challenge it brings.

Jet Island: sci-fi Tony Hawk with open-world exploration and a number of boss battles. Strong VR legs required for this one, but so much damn fun.

Sairento VR: Diablo-esque looter-shooter where you play as a female ninja that can wall run, backflip, and pull off other assorted acrobatics. Melee combat is also a lot of fun in this one, but again requires strong VR legs.

Rez Infinite: fantastic game even on the flatscreen, but VR enhances it even further.

Blade and Sorcery: about as close to realistic as VR combat gets right now, it's a medieval combat sandbox that offers a ton of different weapon and spell choices. Big modding scene for this one too, so you can add in lightsabers to become a Jedi or what have you.

2MD VR Football: American football game that lets you draw up your own plays on a white board and execute them with 2 minutes on the clock against increasingly-difficult AI opponents. Last I checked I'm still rank 2 worldwide in this game.

House of the Dying Sun: another one that can also be played on the flatscreen. Fantastic spaceship dogfighting game.

Until You Fall: probably the best roguelike experience available for VR at the moment, you have to dodge and attack with great precision and timing to take down each enemy, boss and/or mini-boss.

Others that I'd highly recommend: Beat Saber, Boneworks, Eleven Table Tennis, GORN, Hot Dogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Racket NX, Space Pirate Trainer, Ultrawings, Windlands (1 and 2).

Enough said, really.

Super HOT

A super fun slow-mo Matrix inspired game that is probably the definitive VR shooter. So much fun and a mindblowing experience seeing bullets whizz by slowly as you dodge them.

To The Top
A momentum based platformer that is so much fun to play once you've nailed the mechanics. Like Mirrors Edge but on steroids. Some of the later levels are crazy good fun and very creative. One level has you hopping between trucks in a moving convoy, another has you ascending a colossal walking robot and more. The hard to reach collectables make for a fun exploration challenge after you've blasted through the levels.

Job Simulator

Much more fun than it sounds. The perfect introduction to VR and a fun sandbox environment to just get creative and cause all kinds of havoc. I much preferred this original to the sequel.

Robo Recall

A fun, fast paced action shooter that makes you feel bad-ass. Juggling robots with bullets, tearing their limbs off and throwing things at them never gets old. The controls can get a bit clumsy at times and this is best played on a high refresh rate headset (I played it on the Quest and the 72hz sometimes dampens the experience).

Google Earth VR

One of the best VR experiences for anyone into travel. You can literally fly across the entire globe and even down to street level to explore cities that have been mapped in 3D. Stand atop The Shard in London and fly down the Thames.

ALyx is a great AAA title

arizona sunshine was great too

both these games made me realize i had to fight my fears. Both these games are downright scary. Much different seeing tall monsters run at you in VR

my kids love rec room which includes its own version of fornite, charades, laser tag, and so much more and is probably the best game that happens to be free.

I personally have gotten into Project Cars 2 in VR, its a great sim in VR if you have a wheel and if you like games like forza.

Super hot in VR is great too

Alot of games like richies plank and job simulator or cat sorter or even rick and morty

all seem like glorified tech demos

Ive played fallout and skyrim in VR as well but I cannot stay in those for more than 30 minutes without getting dizzy
even though my VR legs are pretty good.

space pirate, and beat saber gets alot of play in my house, when people are over

the kids love the monstercat music add-ons in beat saber.

I havent finished Alyx, but i do keep going back to that to get my VR fix. I have to use the -console code edited into the shortcut
because I am afraid

The only one here i havent played so far is to the top and i probably will soon

but man the quest port of robo recall while great was lacking features that had no right in being removed
like come on they needed to remove the best robot line "What the hell are you? A mechanic?"

Pretty much all have been mentioned already.

Compound is pretty good and hasn't been mentioned yet.

I must say, the original DooM games in VR are amazing. Using Fishbiter's github release, you have full control over your aiming! You can even aim around corners, use low walls as cover, etc. https://github.com/Fishbiter/gz3doom

There is also a Brutal doom 3d weapon github, for playing all the games as Brutal Doom
https://github.com/ajantaju/br_vr/releases/tag/Beta1

I've got a whole setup with .bat files ready to launch any game, including all the 'official' expansions (Sigil, No End In Sight, etc) as well as Hexen! I've got Blood working too, but no 3d weapons yet

Perhaps I should make a 'legal' download that includes all the mod stuff and .bat's, but leave out the game files.. Let me know if anyone would be interested in that.

-----EDIT---

Dolphin VR is amazing too! The Zelda games work quite well, Mario Sunshine sometimes has graphics bugs but it hasn't stopped me from playing yet.

---EDIT2---

There is a fantastic Quake VR mod too! Works just like the Doom mod. Ooh and it's recently been updated! https://vittorioromeo.info/quakevr
