I need help.
I can't seem to get WiiSXR to play Digimon World 1... It plays Chocobo Racing, Hello Kitty, and Top Shop fine enough, but not Digimon World!
I've seen others get it to work for DW just fine. I played with all the settings within WiiSXR, but still can't get it to start up. It just lands on a black screen, FPS can be anywhere between 0 and over 150 depending on which settings or rom I'm on (downloaded many roms!)...

I tried loading it as a bin file, then I saw you can rename bins to img and it's still fine. So I did that too for each rom I had. Still wouldn't load.

It's been years since I last tinkered with my Homebrew much, so I'm not sure which wad I'm on. But I remember having it on one that Wiiflow (with Nintendont) can work with to play Wii and GC games. (Which I just realized, GC games play just fine but Wii games load to the Wii startup... Another problem for another day, not sure how that happened...)
I also saw you can play PSX games on Wiiflow, but not sure which folder or other configurations I would need to setup to do that.

Any suggestions?

I use Wiisx and wiisxr depending on which game there is a compatibility list somewhere. If I remember rightly it gives settings for all games try using both for different games I think you are better using wiisx for that game.

I remember beating Digimon World on my Wii a few years back, and even getting all the Digimon on the city on WiiSXR. It worked pretty great, besides a couple random crashes.

The settings I'm using are:

Dynarec
Boot through Bios: Yes (on the wiisxr/bios folder)
Show FPS: No
Limit FPS: Auto
Frame Skip: No
Screen Mode: 4:3
Dithering: Default

I'm right now walking around File City on my beat save file and it works as fine as it did back then.
It's a game I always looked at fondly, even when it's sometimes bonkers and others frustrating, it has a charm that I don't get from other games.

I'll give WiiSX a try along with your suggestion!
Boot through Bios.. Is there something I need to place in the bios folder? The game?
Also, is the rom you're playing a .bin (maybe with .cue) file, or .img?

Thank you both for your help, I really appreciate it! I actually was getting the game because my mom had asked about it. Her and my older brother and I all used to play it together around the turn of the millennium, hehe. Many fond memories! :D

It's a Bin + Cue.
On the Bios folder you put, well, the Bios files which you must look around for yourself, as we can not share that here.

I also remember playing it back in the day and being completely lost and confused with the cryptic gameplay mechanics and such, getting angry when my Digimon evolved to Numemon, yet also totally absorbed by it. I wish we had more games like it, I kinda miss feeling lost into a game and having to discover stuff by myself on the level I felt with this game.

Ahhh, the bios did the trick! Thank you sooo much, it's beautiful and I want to cry. Ohh, now my other finicky games are working, like Croc! And Top Shop's music now plays!!

Quick question about saves. So, having "Memcard Save Device" to SD... Saving in-game saves to the main save in the "Memcard," right? Which is actually just a file titled the same as the game in the saves folder, yes?
How does Auto Saving work? Do the saves create more save states, or save to the main save?

Hahaa, Numemon, that's its name! When my mom was talking about it the other day she mentioned how often we'd get the annoying "poop monster." X'D (She'd use a more colorful word) You really got to raise your digimon just right, lol
I remember we had the book way back when. Trying to decide if I'll jump into this game fresh and stranded, or look up guides. :P I was practically a toddler back then, so even though the game is a bit hard to navigate maybe I can figure it out on my own now.

You're right though, there hasn't been any game quite like it, even newer Digimon games. (And the direct sequels...) The closest we have is Pokemon of course, but that's still massively different.

Very happy it worked for you too!

I haven't used save states much, but the "memory card save" updates when you pause the game and go to the emulator's menu (to get to that menu it depends on the controller you use, on GC controller I remember it was X + Y + Start, for example). Something to point out is that sometimes it says something like "error saving" or something like that... But that's a false error, because every time it said that it saved for me just fine.

Nowadays there's really accurate info about the game, unlike back in the day where everything was rumours and "I think it works like this", which makes far easier to understand what you need to do to get certain Digimon. It's of course your choice if you want to check that out or not, the game still has lots of guessing and trial & error even when you know what to do.

Alright, understood. Knowing me I'll probably end up looking up a guide sooner or later, haha

Thank you again, I appreciate all the help and guidance so much! :D
Have a good one!
