If you have tiered passwords it can be a viable option.

Things I never want compromised.

Things I like but don't care if I have to reset. Some will choose to have these as shared passwords between a thing.

Things that just need a password for whatever reason but in practice do not matter. For instance I think the in person menu of my laser printer is if not that then something equally banal as anybody that breaks into my house and comes down into my basement where the printer is then they can, horror of horror, change the static IP address.

I've never used that password, but I do have a generic password which I slightly vary for sites I simply do not care about. If someone gets into that account? Have fun, it is unlikely I would care.

When I was little (grade 2) my teachers gave all of us the same password. 12345678. I argued and got nowhere (even got my parents involved), so I created my own password. It was 12 characters long with a mix of letters and numbers. I got in big trouble. For what you ask? For having a secure account that my peers would not be able to use.
They made me change it back to 12345678. Anyone who found out my username could easily access my account.
