Ubisoft Forward event - live coverage

AoFzcmF.png

Ubisoft Forward is finally here, taking place a month exactly after E3 would have normally occurred. With the Devolver Direct having aired yesterday, this and the Xbox press event are some of the only conferences left to watch in regards to this year's summer games showcase. So be sure to get your popcorn, settle in, and see what new games Ubisoft has to show us. We know we'll see Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, which potentially had its release date leaked earlier today--meaning the game may launch on November 17th. We can also expect the full reveal of Far Cry 6, which also previously leaked. What we won't see, however, is any mention of Ubisoft's internal misconduct accusations, which were handled this morning when Ubisoft fired multiple management-level workers involved in alleged abusive behavior.

Don't forget to grab Watch Dogs 2 as well, which is being given away for free on Uplay during the livestream.

The event begins at 12pm PT / 8pm BST.

We start on Watch Dogs Legion. We see London, in a future where a surveillance society reigns, in a new cinematic short film.

Again, each character has slightly different lines, as part of all the different people you can recruit for your cause.

A different trailer shows more of the wacky characters, their motivations, and what the world looks like in the game. Certain people will have special weapons and abilities, like a construction worker using wrenches as a weapon, or a drone expert scoping the area out with tech tools.

Oct 29 launch.

Brawlhalla is up next. It's coming to iOS and Android. Crossplay with other platforms. August 6 release date.

Might and Magic - Era of Chaos. The trailer celebrates player milestones reached since the game's launch. Play it now on mobile.

Ubisoft talks about how the player support of Rainbox Six Siege is humbling, with more players than ever before. Dealing with bugs, making sure the game is the best it can be for its community. There will be more Rainbow 6 to come.

Time to see more of Ubisoft's new game, Hyperscape. Cinematic trailer. Creative director is here to talk about the game. The devs are discussing the character designs and outfits, how inspired they felt when making each of the roster, and more.

Ubisoft will certainly take advantage of next gen hardware, as Xbox's Phil Spencer is on camera to talk about Xbox Smart Delivery for Watch Dogs Legion.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is next. They want players to create a personal adventure. You can play as a female or male. You'll have to fight to create your own settlement.

The fighting system now has a more intense focus on the brutal technique of Vikings. You can raid towns, to which your crew will follow you and pillage.

You'll be making settlements for your people. There will also be many types of enemies. You'll need to figure out each weakness to take them down. Throwing axes, harpoons, quiet nonlethal takedowns, and dual weapon wielding of any type of weapon are available to you.

As it's Assassin's Creed, you can blend in and hide from guards, too. Stealth will be an element of the game.

You can also hunt animals, or explore the lands for ruins and what they hide.

"Massive army assaults" against fortresses will also be a feature. Norse mythology themed secret bosses are included.

The show is almost over, but there's still more reveals yet to be had. Far Cry 6 is confirmed. February 18, 2021 launch date.

That's the end.

I wonder how long it will take for Ubisoft to actually add the free game? I feel they'll screw over non-US citizens based on the notice on the registration page. On the bright side, if we do get it, I am glad I didn't wake up at 1:30 am just for this game.

Anyone that has redeemed free game offers on their Ubisoft account notice them missing? I grabbed several games they gave away since March but now it's showing I have no games in my uplay account, I went to look in case watchdog 2 was added already. I had grabbed games like child of light and Rayman but they're not there anymore

What a PR nightmare this turned out to be for them.

I didn't bother with this, but it seems the people who did, are annoyed they couldnt claim the things Ubisoft promised, what a disaster.

Edited to add, it looks as though Ubisoft "next gen" will so far continue the trend of reskinning, with the odd graphical tweak.

No Splinter Cell news. :(

No one seems to mention before last gen started, Ubisoft were working on new tech for Splinter Cell. The tech was mostly interaction with objects (hand / hold points) and realistic physics.

Out came Conviction with none of the so called tech they'd spent years on. They did spin the tech in to Assassins Creed and various other ip, but SplinterCell has been dropped so far down the pecking order.

It's a real shame, it was a great franchise, will a loyal fanbase. Harking back to when Ubisoft made great games, the made a few decent ones since, but they're more on a Activision / EA wannabe whorefest now.

Missing in the Uplay program, or just when you log into the website?

Something is wrong with the website, it shows only 4 games owned for me and same for my brother, despite both owning more. All of them are present in the uplay appliaction though.

This is a good, insightful post.
