Well I tried it and it had no effect. The reddit thread that linked me to this thread stated a larger capacitor than 220uf worked out for the original poster in the end. Maybe I could use two of the 220uf ones in parallel, bought a 5 pack online. I'm about to just give up on using head phones ever though.

hello.

i have 2 GBA and one of them have weirdly loud speaker noise.

Hi, just wanted to say thank you, stumbled upon this late last night, and literally had a lone 470uf cap on my shelf, gave it a go and got fantastic results, I mean i can't hear any buzz at all! Even through my 7 speaker Atmos set up :rofl2: great job :)

Hey man, my buzzing was absolutely awful, and I literally only had a 16v 470uf cap, and it completely fixed it. Try one of those, I'm sure it'll work, might sound stupid but make sure your polarity is correct with pos and neg going to the right side, also make sure you solder both pins on the chip, just to make sure you are making contact with the second pin in.

mmh i ha d with 1 of my gb a buzzing sound with the amp board.
but i found the source of it.
1 of the soldering of 1 capacitator near the power button was lose and lost contact.
after resoldering it is away.

no need for any extra capacitor with the black china amp mod

I just created this account to say this mod is extraordinary.. I fit a 470uf in there and the buzz from the IPs screen is gone.
Wondering if this same mod is possible on the GBC and/or the GBA SP? Is there any info on this or in this thread that I missed?

sorry for the necrobump. This thread is amazing though!

Fixed my buzzing after my headphones (with an inline volume) broke. Now I can use any headphones! I installed a 220uf 16v capacitor. I didn’t notice that they have an identified ground. I installed it correctly and it works great! The shorter of the two leads is the ground and it has a grey stripe with “- -“ on the label. Also fixed my power switch, which was easier than I thought.
