Hello, my old US 3DS is crashing with the error "undefined instruction" on the armv11 core 1 when I launch games installed from .CIA with FBI and also the Luma app but homebrew launcher, anemone, checkpoint and FBI still launch. I have tried differents sources of US .CIA roms and tried converting a .3ds to .cia with gm9 super script without success.

-Tried to import seed on games with FBI but get error "error: 0xD963F99C desc: htttp 404: not found" and have tried with a .3ds converted to .cia and didn't work too.

-Everything is updated on the lastest version except FBI that I downgrade to 2.5.3 because 2.6.0 would crash with the same error when launching for the first time on homebrew launcher.

-Also tried to update games on the eshop but would still get the crash on launch

-Disabling Luma Crash Handler would put the error when launching games or Luma app "An error occurred (ErrDisp) error type: card removed the card was removed. press any button to reboot" on the 3ds launching animation

-Tried the "Fix CMACs for drive" in GM9

-Turned on the "Enable Game Patching" option on Luma3DS

-Updated to latest firmware

-SD card integrity is OK, formated on FAT32 with 32k chunk size

-Download another boot.3ds on github repo

-Tried with a Samsung 4gb SD card and Integral 32gb micro SD card + SD card adapter

I jailbreaked my old 3DS today if that can help.

Games I tried that were installed using .cia :
MK 7
SM 3d World
SMB 2

Game I tried with a conversion of .3ds to .cia :
SM 3d World

Possible causes for missing HOME Menu titles.
.cia error! ← This thread contains further details in what to expect of the above link.

  1. FBI import seed does nothing when the 3DS is not connected to the Internet.
  2. If internet is not available, FBI import the seed with [ seeddb.bin + hydroseed.exe ] → sdmc:/fbi/seed/*.dat files
  3. :!: Don't use the (x) Disable Arm11 exception handler.
  4. (x) Enable game patching does nothing by itself. Out-of-region games also requires Locale Emulation.

Hello,
I have tried what was mentioned in the posts you linked but it did nothing. Still get the same error.

So I tried to copy a backup of my SD card I made early with only MK7 on another SD card and it actually worked, so I played it until I unlocked the cup with rainbow road but the game crashed, I would also get sometimes music freeze while playing.
SD card integrity is also OK

Also GM9 would sometimes not open the SD card directory because it didn't see it

I feel like my SD card reader is dying on me, could be the case since my 3DS is 8 years old and it's very humid where I live and there is an error saying "the sd card was removed" when launching a game with the option "Disable Arm11 exception handler"

5. (x) Disable Arm11 exception handler is bad juju. Don't use it.
6. Checking the SD card for hardware defects with H2testw only works if the test was done on an empty card. If you did this with folders and files already on the card, test results cannot be trusted.

You can try to salvage the games, updates, dlcs, saves, and extdata found in the Nintendo 3DS folder. This will determine which titles have data corruption requiring replacement CIAs. When rebuilding the folder, go with Path (B).

Hello,
Sometimes my 3DS would simply not boot and stay on a black screen.
So I have decided to restore the stock firmware on the 3DS before it became a complete brick.

Also couldn't uninstall the CFW "the normal way" using the "Uninstall Hax" on GM9 with the G9Superscript because I would get a copy error when the script start to write on the NAND or GM9 could just not access the SD card directory and say that there were no directory so I just installed the stock firmware on the NANDCTR so that I can at least boot without SD card
and then tried some demo on the eshop and got similar errors like :
-Eshop not detecting SD card
-Launching games installed trough Eshop would put the error "The SD card was removed"
-Games would actually launch but would crash at a certain point

I have tried that on 2 SD card that I formated in FAT32 32kb chunk size, h2testw them, reformated and then put in the 3DS with no errors

I guess that the SD card reader is starting to die

Thank for the help anyways

…*sigh*…
I hope you realize that copying files to CTRNAND, or even uninstalling B9S, will not solve any problems and can potentially have bad side effects including fully bricking the console – especially with questionable SD reader. Going back to stock firmware obviously does nothing to repair hardware damage (and replaces the Luma crash handler with non helpful standard "An error has occurred" messages.

If this is a non-XL old 3DS (CTR-001) replacing the SD reader is not a big deal [ifixit] Nintendo 3DS SD Board replacement.
On the O3DSXL it requires pretty good soldering skills (reader directly soldered to motherboard).

With or without CFW the 3DS should still be able to use game cartridges in case of bad SD reader (and with CFW out-of-region carts as well).

In any case:

Good luck and have fun!

Thank, I have the non-xl old 3DS and will try to order the part. Replacing the SD card reader doesn't look too difficult.
