Hacking What is the best custom firmware for EZ Flash Omega?

Some people here have created custom themes and firmware for the ez flash. Some claim to have updated gameboy emulator versions, others fix bugs and crashing and even claim battery performance tweaks. So I am wondering, what is the general consensus best of the pack. I always used the default latest ez flash firmware but after I lost all my gamesaves which prevented me from loading new games with no save states created I heard that potentially some of these custom firmwares fix this issue I faced so why not give it a go right?

I really should retract my statement about battery usage...

It was a bit of a stretch, I added the VblankIntrWait System call in certain spots of the menus where there should be.
That system call halts the CPU until the frame is finished drawing, which can reduce battery usage.

I should've not mentioned it at all... :/
