So what I'm gathering is, it's a semi-interactive CG movie that they're charging $60 for? Is it like a David Cage game without the quirkiness of being a David Cage game? If that's true, what's the big deal?

It's Uncharted with fungus zombies. I personally really enjoyed the first one, easily one of the killer apps for both the PS3 and the PS4.

Never got into Uncharted either lol. What would you say the ratio of gameplay to movie is? I only just last month got a PS4, and before that only really got a PS3 for MGS4 and emulation, so I'm out of the loop.

The average playtime to beat The Last of US is 15 hours, give or take, and there's a total of ~93 minutes worth of cutscenes across the whole game.

To put that into perspective, Uncharted 1-3 have an average playtime of about 10 hours across all 3 games, and also has ~90 minutes worth of cutscenes each. Uncharted 4 is longer, with about 15 hours, and around 3ish hours of cutscenes.

You'll have to specify the question a bit. There are some lengthy cutscenes in there, but most exposition is done via "casual" dialogue during platforming and exploration sections. It's not a "Heavy Rain" kinda game where it's effectively an interactive story, it's more akin to a modern Tomb Raider - stealth, combat and (very mild) platforming. Considering the fact that you've played MGS4 which, to my knowledge, still holds the Guinness Book record for the longest cutscene (71 uninterrupted minutes), you should be fine.

Everytime I hear about spoilers, I immediately assume that
either someone important dies, or everybody dies

...and most of the time it is true.
btw, I think the feminist/PC/minority pleaser direction the story and characters have taken is more important than the spoilers to decide if you're gonna like the game or not

In what way has it gone that way? I just heard that the girl is lesbian (already known from the first game apparently).

If you do play last of us, play the ps4 version. Higher resolution and 60fps. Ps3 feels so sluggish.

The way Foxi4 describes the game as fungus zombies kinda diminishes the impact of scaryness and seriousness. But it's based on a real life fungus that only infects insects called cordycepts. So they just applied that to humans which turns them into a zombie like state.

The story is the big shine of the game. Most video game stories are shit. Dialouge is bad and not how a normal person talks. Game dialouge is awkward compared to a good movie. I guess nerds take their social awkwardness to video game stories also when writing it. Which probably explains why game stories suck. Feels like something a nerd who never had social interaction would say.

Last of Us has a good story though. Mostly through the characters. The interaction between the characters is what makes it good. And lots of the exchange is happening while you're playing the game. They feel human. A game I would actually show people. While other games I'd be embarrassed because of the bad awkward dialouge.

I apply the ELI5 methodology - if I can't explain something in one paragraph, I'm probably doing it wrong. :P You are right though, the story was very good and the relationships between the characters were its strongest point.

More like a sentence. Those short responses seems more like comedy type responses. Can be used for good fun, or to show you don't care about something. But can sometimes give the wrong impression of something. Sometimes true and provide a good summary in one short sentence, or sometimes doesn't really capture the essence in one sentence. It depends.

"Final Fantasy 7 is about a momas boy.
Breath of the Wild is a wanna be Skyrim."

VG stories seems like a social awkward nerd trying to write what normal humans say & failing, never ends well. So embarrassing to play when someone is at my house. Sometimes I want them to hire someone else to write it. Only a few I thought were good or just passable. Last of Us though I want to show everyone how good a game story can be.

I actually haven't seen or read any TLoU spoilers, apart some sort of youtube-poop like video which showed scenes out of context, lol.
I do also not give a crap about this game, so, this might be the reason, eh.
