Hacking Is it worth hacking my x360?

Hi folks!

I just wanted to know what the title says.

I want 360 and OG Games to run from ISO/Disc or ODDE, as well as Arcade Games and Live.
Would it even be possible to burn Arcades which were not released on Disc to burn it on Disc or emulate it as one in a ISO file?

Box is a Corona v1 (MFR 10/2011) although it has a 120GB HDD? At least that's what the Dash says.
Lite-On Drive is inside, but I don't know the FW as of yet.

If you are wanting arcade, DLC and the like then you will need something in the JTAG/RGH world. Such things means you won't be able to use xbox live though.
If you can skip DLC, hacked games, out of region games (Japan and North America both got some nice versions of games that did not appear in PAL countries), USB loading, XBLA, cheats, custom size hard drives and all the rest then you can flash your DVD, or if you have lots of money and a bit of luck maybe find an optical drive emulator.
With a flashed DVD you can burn dual layer DVDs for your region for both the original xbox (oh that is another thing a JTAG/RGH hacked box allows -- you can use a modded emulator to try to run a few more games) and 360. You do have the option of playing on xbox live though with a DVD mod (way back they used to get banned once a year or so but today if you check your games you should be fine). You do also have the option to run a few pieces of DLC (see PIRS DLC).

As you asked then technically you can run them from a DVD (indeed even on a stock one you can download the demos and play the demos from a burned DVD). Most people with a hacked xbox will use the internal hard drive or USB though.

Pretty much what FAST said, if you want to play on XBLive, get an Xkey.
If not, RGH it.

Or, go the expensive fancy route, RGH Dual NAND and Xkey.

XBLA and DLC all fall under the same banner. The only reason we have DVD stuff is for reasons unknown Microsoft kicked some security for the discs to the drive itself rather than the internals. XBLA and DLC for things run internally and thus fall under the banner of internal security.

If you can get an ODE for that much then that is quite a reasonable price. I guess fewer people want them these days as they got somewhat rare and hard to come by at one point.

An ODE just skips the disc burning and allows you to plug a USB into it.

If you want XBLA (no demo versions) then you need to RGH it (or JTAG if that was an option for your setup, which it is not). This more or less comes at the cost of live.
You can do a dual nand mod and keep one mode clean for online disc play (you will have to hack the drive on top of that, though RGH makes that far easier, no online with the XBLA games unless you buy them as they will only work in the hacked mode) you can do that.
There are some options to buy a stack of keys when you get banned, probably new accounts each time, and probably have to pay for the stealth fixes and server to hide you but just eh.

Frankly though is xbox live really that important? Why pay for what most even vaguely game like PCs will probably play quite happily, or you could likely buy a second xbox and most games to play on it (that still have servers up and people on them) for next to nothing?

I do have a TSOP xbox (therefore I know the xbox ISO thingy)

I do have a X1 and therefore Gold, why not use it on the 360? but I guess with the XBLA RGH method I'll get acc banned on X1.
And to be honest: I'm a little achievement addicted and for that you have to atleast connect to live for them to sync :|

the last point is te main reason I'm asking: is it worth putting all the risk into modding the 360 or just live without it

Afraid you are the only one that can answer the last question.

Personally I would rather pay to not have xbox live on my machine so I am content to not have it at all, and with it come mods. Upon hearing my friend was banned I did get what I think was a deep sadness in the pit of my stomach but turns out I just needed a snack.

Game wise then 360 games are going back up in price (with the xbone and PS4 not having any games it seems people are looking back to things, which are ageing really quite well and tend not to be filled with microtransactions) but are still not a lot for most of them -- expensive 360 games are mostly the odd RPG (why I did not grab a copy of MagnaCarta 2 at the time I do not know, I even knew it was good from the start), things troubled by lawsuits, a few games that were rare but easy to get achievements in (don't get it myself and I think achievements are a net negative on the world but to each their own), and the occasional kids game that did not sell much and thus collectors have a hard time.
Pretty much everything else can be had for not a lot if you look hard enough (I rarely pay more than £2 for a game, and even then less than £5) as most of the game shop high price stuff tends to be stuff that sold millions but people enjoy -- various MX vs ATV titles and Skate 2 and 3 (all fantastic titles to relax to) tending to be it and those come up at car boot sales all the time when parents sell off games their kids no longer play.

You also have the fact that because of the PS3 and 360 most PC games of the time hung back at directX9 which just about anything will run today and you then have the benefits the PC brings.
