it seems to me that a simple resigning might not work for every game. some games on the ps3, for example, require ida due to networking and saving problems.

Happy days are here again!

to be honest retroarch on ps4 has been enough for me to get really excited. Linux on pretty much all models. New games due to bcp it is like a much needed revival. Can’t wait to play some new games!

Thanks for the link. So these "devs" that are leaking these keys, were they withholding the info in order to use them as dangling carrots to other devs so that they might divulge/trade other info that is needed to create an kexploit/CFW? Or am I reading too much into it?

not a bad interpretation. Thing is people who have kexploits seem pretty adamant that work on homebrew sdk for 5.05 should come first. My assumption on that end of things is those talented enough to have a kexploit aren’t in favor of piracy. They also want the best possible jailbreak situation meaning this. If you have it personally you benefit sure. But the real benefit in terms of free games modded content and homebrew comes when it is widely publicly available cause the scene feeds on itself. Which is why the one fellow makes his kh key available. Buuut it is le classic game of le cat and le mouse with any kexploits. If sony still has not patched you CAN’T release it. You have to wait. Especially if your overall goal is for the scene to have access to the entire library at eol. So a decision was made it seems. Wait on releasing kexploit till the last moment and since we have a huge library of games at 5.05 i am in favor of this approach. But backporting which is something i saw during ps3 days as well could be our savior for new games. It is going to be quite interesting to see what develops. Grab your popcorn!

I don't see any "devs" who might have kex exploit higher than 5.05 and be interested in "game modding" iirc. So I don't think release KH3 key or whatever key would make any difference.

While I understand the logic of waiting until Sony patches a kexploit before releasing, isn't that also playing into Sony's hands?

Sony's been dealing with this piracy thing since the days of their original PS, so maybe now they understand the devs' exploit release logic and decide they won't patch until the PS5 is out. That way, they can maximize their software sales (while the PS4 is still their flagship) even with a known exploit out there.
