You can use the SAMD21 update payload in the Switchboot thread. Send that via TegraRCM or whatever, then double-press reset on chip.

Oh I'm able to get into update mode fine, but I just wasn't sure about this section:

"Check what straps you have fitted. If you are lucky enough to have the vol+ strap soldered, this is for you. Maybe.
If not, then you can still use it, but you probably will want to avoid "part 1".

I don't have vol+ strap connected, so I wasn't sure if you mean skip that part 1 altogether. It's all good now though. I did update both and everything is working fine. Thanks so much!

No worries.

However, while the logo is showing, the particulars are being gathered. So I don`t think you will notice any difference.

Just do us a flavour... Test an old version (v1 or 2) and see what the boot time difference is (if you can)... Our baby has robbed our spare Switch as his is flat... And I can`t use Queen of Sheba`s as she has gone to bed to play S-turd-ew Valley.

All tests done upon pressing Vol + Power (no hekate boot logo) and until at home screen (easiest to measure)
V1 takes: 21 seconds (god didn't realise the atmosphere logos take so long)
V2 takes: 22 seconds (could have been my stop watch)
V5 takes: 24 seconds

You see at first boot, once the payload is pushed, its out of Fusees hands.

All I can do is speed up pushing the payload. Which I have done. Time to get some UF2s made. Just finished.

V6 full changelog:

  • Improved button polling for faster boot.
  • Long-press VOL+ has a "progress" graphic
  • Refactored all variables for easier hexediting
  • Screensaver added (bouncing Nintendo logo - can be toggled by button press (Blink 4 VOL+ long press)
  • Boot animations added - (1 = no bootlogo at all, 2 = static, 3 = sliding, 4 = wiping, 5 = "glitching")
  • Change colours of bootlogo and text (either Hexedit, or change in Arduino. Very easy to do!)
  • Screen dimming after period of inactivity
  • Tidied menus
  • Removed SD mount / remount upon every boot attempt - Speeds things up
  • New "button control" graphic on main screen. Less intrusive.
  • BLZ more assets, change colours upon decompression... Sneaky.
  • Typos and bugfixes behind the scenes. New ones probably added. I`m that daft.
Grab from OP :)

Cheers

If anyone wants special versions, these will be uploaded later to specials folder.

yeh install V6 and working as expected, need to understand how to change the bootlogo as it defaults to red animated.

Can you update this section:

Hold until first rapid blink to change from modchip-based autoRCM, to dual-boot. Approx. 4 seconds hold time.
Hold until second rapid blink to change payload. Numbers are blinked out. Hit VOL+ to choose.
Hold until third rapid blink to set Dotstar brightness. Dotstar will fade and hine brightly. Press VOL+ to store.
Hold until fourth rapid blink for Full chip reset.
Hold until last blink (approx 15 seconds - can hold longer for no LED installs(RCMX86 for example)) to enter update mode. Simply power off, (hold vol+ if dual boot)
and power on. You can now connect to your PC. UF2 drive wil pop up.

Will update it when I get home

Going to make a new graphic and video later. But for now...

Long press vol options...

Keep holding and release when you get to the option you want. Another press confirms your option.

Blink 1... Dual boot / Perma cfw toggle
Blink 2... Payload selection... 1 - 8. Payload1.bin for example
Blink 3... Boot logo. 1= no logo at all. 2. Static logo. 3 = sliding. 4 = wiping. 5 = "glitching".
Blink 4... Screensaver toggle... On / off
Blink 5... Dotstar brightness (press vol on desired brightness)
Blink 6 (around 20-30 seconds long press... Update mode)

sorry mate I still don't get this, so I hold down vol + icon until I get to the 3rd set of rapid blinking - then what? let go and press Vol + again? It just goes Black then

on blink 3, you release vol+ and the led start to blink one time for no logo, after it blinks 2 time for static logo,...
you just push vol+ button when it blinks for what you want.

Hmm for some reason am only able to get into the chip menu by holding the vol+ button on boot when there is no payload1.bin on my sd card. If I try and hold the power button to boot into the menu it just powers off my console with no menu. Everything else seems to work okay.

Added a vid to OP that may help. I cannot edit or create videos or anything artistic for toffee. So excuse the potato video.

@Joshmas you are holding vol+ too long. Try pressing power on, then release and press again straight away.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

double posting again...

@metaljay... One in specials folder with no logo or screensaver. Can still be activated though...

Everybody:
Will make some specials if you cannot get the hang of the vol+ button, or hexediting, or if you want a unique colour scheme... But you can do it yourself. Its easy enough :)

I am so glad you did a video, it makes it 100% easier to understand!
the trick is lifting of the Vol + WHEN the led flickers, not after it finishes, that's where I was going wrong haha

no need for a special version for me, I can just use the default one as I'm no longer a retard lol

Sorry if my question is stupid but for the fifth blink, update mode, do you still need to double tap reset or it works without the double tap?
In the OP, it's not write to double press reset.
Thanks.

For update mode, just keep holding. It will go into update mode automatically
