Founded in back in 2015, Nvidia formed a team of developers "whose mission is to remaster and remake classic PC games and bring them to Android for billions of people to enjoy", titled NVIDIA LightSpeed Studios. It seems that mission has changed with a recent job listing for the team, spotted by DSOG.

NVIDIA is kicking off an exciting new game remastering program. We’re cherry-picking some of the greatest titles from the past decades and bringing them into the ray tracing age, giving them state-of-the-art visuals while keeping the gameplay that made them great. The NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios team is picking up the challenge starting with a title that you know and love but we can’t talk about here! We’re building a team of talented, dedicated game developers who are ready to get going quickly.

In short, just like we've seen with the Quake 2 RTX port and Minecraft RTX, you can expect NVIDIA to work on more older titles to remaster them with RTX (NVIDIA's Ray Tracing).

RTX was and probably is what many believe to be a gimmick in the PC gaming graphics scene, however it is undeniable that many and more games are receiving the RTX treatment; more notably the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch_Dogs Legion. One would not be too far from the truth to expect Ray Tracing to become the norm for games in the future, but time will tell indeed.

What old classic do you have in mind that you would like to see get remastered by NVIDIA? And what do you think is the old "title that you know and love" NVIDIA LightSpeed Studios is working on? Let us know.

The game would be Half-Life 2, as i bet it would be a game they already ported to Android (the Shield line anyway, officially at least).

If not, i would like it to be the original Doom, since they did Quake, so why not do the "some-what" origin of that framework.

I'd love to see Battlefield 2 get ray tracing, or Jedi Outcast, or especially Half-Life 2! Even Operation Flashpoint would be awesome but alas these are all ancient games nowadays... Quake 3 with raytracing tho O.O

Gotta keep people from regretting buying hardware before software utilizes it.
Which makes me kind of worried, does Nvidia not have better technology for the coming years that they have to focus instead on software utilization?

Well i had a 770 GTX and wanted an upgrade, got my hand on a RTX 2060 for 300€ and never regreted it, Ray Tracing is impressive even for a 60 series (For christ sake that star wars reflections demo is insane!)
