to be clear... i only considered it rude because you're asking people to do work for free on something that is mostly off topic for this thread. This is a thread about making amiibo cards those are similar but are not the same and were created for a completely different function. So in other words whoever sits down and makes them for you would be making them specifically for you... and would have to continue to make them for you as long as Nintendo makes more smash amiibo. Sure there may be some people that could find them useful in here, but again its completely off topic for the thread. And as you said a template already exists for you to use, made by the person who made the other images you are already using, what more could you ask for? The skills required to edit the template should be mostly trivial and at most would take you all of a few hours of watching basic tutorials and fiddling around yourself to figure out... assuming the guy made the template at all competently. And then you would have the skills to make more as new amiibo are released without having to ask people to do work for you for free. For me anyway, it has nothing to do with having some pride over a style or whatever.

Also, there may be someone that wants to do you a favor and make those for you... thats fine. Its certainly possible you could find someone willing. All Im saying is that it was rude of you to ask for it when you have everything you need to make them yourself if you put in a little effort.

Here is an analog to what you asked: "I have had a butler who used to cut my steak and feed it to me piece by piece but now he no longer wants to work for me. He gave me the fork and knife and told me how to cut the steak but I dont understand his instructions. If there are any butchers in here can you take some time out of your day and come cut my steak and feed it to me?".

That might be putting it a little too bluntly but thats how it came off, and why I considered it rude. I also get that there is some irony that this post is itself rude, which is why I originally didnt post an explanation but I dont want people thinking it was because of some weird issue with pride over different styles. (its not really even a different style from anything else posted)

@KBAS1986 I may have overreached when I said it was *extremely* rude. So Im sorry for that. You said you were having trouble understanding photoshop... if you watch these few tutorials you should be well on your way to editing his template. (just about 45 minutes worth of tutorials)

I hope that can help you

I tend to disagree. I think if you watch those tutorials I linked you will be able to use photoshop well enough to at least swap out character art and change the colors around to make new cards if you already have a well made template.

if you wanted to make a template from scratch... sure that would require more skill. You’d probably have to take a course or two, online or otherwise. (Side note: if anyone is curious Linda.com has a lot of online courses for photoshop). But to just edit a pre-made template... certainly doable with minimal time investment. Imo.

I am looking to make some euro style fire emblem amiibo cards. I saw the cartoon ones somewhere before but id prefer them to look like the euro cards that came as part of the limited edition set. Anyone got any ideas where I could get the art work from

Hi comp c

First off I would like to say thanks for your contribution to this site. These cards look great and so does the artwork. Must have taken you a long time to make such great work.

I currently want to make these for my son. He is amiibo mad seriously loves the stuff. But they are of course quite expensive. What I would like to know is are these amiibo cards easy to make? Do i need any special skills?

Also is there a guide on how to get them to work? do i need a special device, phone, tablet to make them work? people keep talking about tags, are these like nfc tags that the amiibo has inside?

Thanks, sorry if it's too much to ask. just would like to make him something for his birthday at the end of the month and this seemed like a brilliant idea!

any help or advice would be great!

regards,

Hi, I finnaly got around to making an account on here. I have been an avid follower of amiibo cards for sometime and loved the idea behind them. What better way to ensure my amiibo can stay boxed. No longer do I have to buy 2 of everything if i can just create amiibo cards instead right?

I joined this forum for one reason and one reason alone to let you know that I have been using your artwork for the past month to create amiibo cards and they have been great it's taken me some time due to the fact I had to import the tags for some strange reason took about 14 days to get here so that was a wait i could have done without and all the trial and error wasn't so much fun!

I have created amiibo cards using your artwork and random11's both of you have done excellent work here and obviously a lot of other people think so too!

Now i suppose i could have made my own amiibo cards with my own amiibo artwrok, but im useless as art seriously. Can't even use paint! These were great to print with just drag drop print. I do make my amiibo cards the good old fashoined way with paper and double sided tape.

For everyone who is having issues making there cards I can shine a light for you. I tried and tested at least 20 types of paper and 3 different printers. Ink was an issue too it has to be the good stuff. Here is what I did:

Printer -

Tired a bog standard printer - awful print quality so straight up binned that idea.

Tried a specialist laser printer at a shop - looked great but the price was so damn expensive!

Bought a photo printer cannon brand - sharp crisp images. If you want to print your own start with a photo printer!

Card/paper

This was the real issue. I tried every brand possible. Some of the expensive brands were just as bad as the cheap ones! All I can say is find a brand that's thick and doesn't feel sticky to the touch. I ordered mine from eBay it came in a pack of 100 can't recall the brand name but it worked!

INK

Don't buy the cheap stuff your prints will luck dull! seriously. You need to buy the official product for your printer there is a reason why it's expesnive. If i was you id buy some off ebay mine costs £45 for a box of 5 colours i can buy the same online for £25 that pretty much printer nearly all the cards I needed!

Now for making them. Just print. Fold stick with double tape place chips inside and get a good paper cutter I use a guillotine cutter. They turned out great.

So thanks for this! I posted this comment on the other guys post too to say thanks! :)

I look forward to seeing any other desings you may come up with in the future. Thanks again.

regards,

You can do a quick google search on how to make your own amiibo cards to go more in depth but I shall fill you in on the basics.

First you need an android device that allows you to scan NFC devices. Samsung S series (s5,6,7,8) are all good phones that will work and won't have a problem using the app you need to create the amiibo. If you have the device you then need to get hold of the app to make them. This is where google comes in handy. It's called Tagmo.

Once you have this all setup you are going to need some NTAG215 tags. They come in card or sticker format. They are nfc chips and you can buy them all over you don't need to import them. Make sure you don't buy the 213 one they won't work but can work to make lego diemensions.

Once you have the tags and the app. You need to print the cards.

Print the cards on A4 6 cards per sheet 3 top 3 bottom. Just make them look card sized. Print. Fold them over put the sticker inside. Double sided tape it up. Cut and then scan.

Bingo all done. Like i said there are guides online how to do this.

Good luck, sure hell love his gift! :)

Thanks for the tips, if it's such a problem though you should look at the plastic nfc cards you can get printer for them at around $400 though... but yeah with all the money you spent on ink, printers and paper it might have been near enough the same! :D

All you need to get started is NFC tags. You can buy them online, amazon, ebay. You need NTAG215. Not ntag 213. Then you need an android device, phone or tablet that scans NFC tags. Google will tell you. Then you need the app to create these tags. There are guides all over good luck!

Recently got a message in a chat group about your custom made cards. Just signed up to the site to share that I love them. Thank you for the hard work you have put into making these cards. I love the overall look of them.

I am sat here right now printing them off and I gotta say from the test batch they look great. I don't need to make them look professional just as long as they look better than these plain round stickers!

thanks for the tips.

I would not laminate them. It makes them look awful imho. You can get playing card covers for them if you make them a certain size this might be a more suitable option for you?

I use 220 gsm for mine they don't bend unless you really try to bend them.

thanks for the tips.

I personally did laminate them. I only did this so I could keep the clean. The problem I had was I used some thick 200gsm GLOSSY photo paper. They look awesome but the only issue is they feel sticky to the touch thus I laminated them. You can corner it off with a corner tool and try to get them close to the lamination if you laminate them properly. The heat didnt damage the chip for me. But you never know test 1 card first if all is good then do more. But like someone else said you can get the plastic sleeves too. I used to collect Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and those were what we all had. Come to think of it i wish i could make cards that look and feel just like them! that would be awesome. Issue is printing on card i think you would need a laser printer to get a better result.
