How do we change DR? I got both files and put in SXOS folder but idk what to do now.....or is that all there is to it?
Go check again, the author have all instructions in the post

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sorry for stupidly question but what is different between Dynamic Resolution Config Tweaks and Dynamic Resolution Exefs Tweaks TAB

Should i choose some method or need to do both?
I think you should just use config tweaks with 26 presets of dynamic resolutions, don't need download the second file (TW3-DR.zip), the second method you can add the value of dynamic res on your own, but at your own risk.

Masagrator. Thank you again. Definitely giving us options. I find that changing dynamic resolution to 25 with max OC with everything else toggled off on the postprocessing menu gives me the best quality on handheld while charging. I can even say it's closer to what my PS4 Pro can deliver. On top of that we have 60 fps.. something my other console can't do. Man you are awesome!

Sorry, I don't want to spam, but is it possible to enhance the maximal resolution for dynamic resolution settings? For example to have dynamic res and 720p max settings in handheld?

Are there already finished data or video tutorial? I'm just too stupid for the instructions? :D

This mod is working fine and at 720p I am getting upto 30fps. It occasionally drops to 18FPS in the bigger cities.

THANK YOU!

Just another quick question... I copy pasted all of the following into my settings file? Is that okay or do we just need to pick a couple? If you could advise what is the best ones I need to copy that would be great or even if you think having all of them in there is okay then I will leave as is.

Greatly Appreciated :)

Below that we can paste any line from this list (I think they are easy to understand what some of them are doing):
List
Code:
DynamicResolutionOverride=-1
DRRequireCameraMove=1
DRIgnoreCPU=1
DRIgnoreVsync=1
DRGameTargetFrameTimeInMs=31.5
DRCinematicTargetFrameTimeInMs=40.0
DRIncreaseResolutionMargin=1
DRIncreaseResolutionMarginMultiply=1
DRCinematicIncreaseResolutionWaitTimeInMs=607.5
DRCinematicDecreaseResolutionWaitTimeInMs=101.5
DRGameIncreaseResolutionWaitTimeInMs=945.0
DRGameDecreaseResolutionWaitTimeInMs=157.5

Are there already finished data or video tutorial? I'm just too stupid for the instructions? :D

Simple way:
1.Download that 60fps zip only, extract es patches folder under your atmosphere/sxos/reinx (- whatever CFW you're using) folder

2.Backup your save using checkpoint (you should have entered game and have 1 save at least)

3.Edit the txt file under 'user.settings' folder in your backup folder (note: that W3 backup folder only has title id of your game region, so don't look for the name)

under [rendering] add those:
DynamicResolutionOverride=-1
DRGameTargetFrameTimeInMs=16.0
DRCinematicTargetFrameTimeInMs=31.5

Now those numbers are what you have to change as your preferences:

- The frametime is what it is: 31.5 mean 1 frame per 31.5 milisecond = near 32 frame per second, changing those to 25.0 you'll have 40fps targeting, 16.0 is the number for 62fps. The game will drop resolutions to reach those frametimes (Cinematic target frame time by default was 40.0 so in cutscene fps drop alot for higher resolutions)

- In Dynamic Res Override: replace -1 with one from those values (0 to 25) to limit your lowest resolutions (or highest) as your preference, if you want highest fps possible just leave this value by default (yeah edit this setting only for something like 900x508 to 956x536p target 40fps...)

Value | Handheld resolution
0 | 832x468 | 956x536
1 | 848x476 | 956x536
2 | 860x488 | 956x536
3 | 884x496 | 956x536
4 | 900x508 | 956x536
5 | 920x516 | 956x536
6 | 936x528 | 956x536
7 | 956x536 | 956x536
8 | 972x548 | 972x548
9 | 992x556 | 992x556
10 | 1008x568 | 1008x568
11 | 1028x576 | 1028x576
12 | 1044x588 | 1044x588
13 | 1064x596 | 1064x596
14 | 1080x608 | 1080x608
15 | 1100x616 | 1100x616
16 | 1116x628 | 1116x628
17 | 1136x636 | 1136x636
18 | 1152x648 | 1152x648
19 | 1172x656 | 1172x656
20 | 1188x668 | 1188x668
21 | 1208x676 | 1208x676
22 | 1224x688 | 1224x688
23 | 1244x696 | 1244x696
24 | 1260x708 | 1260x708
25 | 1280x720 | 1280x720

4.Open checkpoint and restore your save

Edit: seem after testing for a while those dynamic res options have a glitch with your inventory rendering, it's not optimized for this. Keep dynamic resolution override at -1 is recommended to have highest fps posible and bug free

Edit 2: This mod is suppose to be used with OC while charging - those OC values that higher than max handheld clocks (460mhz GPU) because TW3 already used it + the dynamic resolutions could go as low as 468p to maintain 30fps by default. If you try getting 60fps with 460mhz GPU you'll get 832x468 resolutions all the time and your fps could jump between 25-40fps depend on situations... or if you locked 956x536 you could get 25-27 average fps....

Handheld already has max 720p.

Oh, that's odd, Digital Foundry said that the max in portable is lower.
I quote:
"Handheld play works the same way as docked - a dynamic pixel count that adjusts based on load. Here Switch uses 960x540 as the top number, but drops steeply where it needs to. Pick a busy street in Novigrad for example, and the lowest reading comes in at just 810x456."

So maybe there just isn't a way to bump the resolution to 720p without overclocking, or something is wrong here :/

Just to add.. for the value, 0 and 25 doesn't mess with the inventory menu. Other values are ok but your inventory menu will look off.

Yes, without OC you won't go above 540p with default settings.
actually it can :)
all settings by default - default handheld clocks
All default settings - default clocks.jpg

this is with every settings off/low - default clocks
All off_low - default clocks.jpg

0 is fine when I tested. I wish there is a text editor for the Switch so I won't have to always remove the SD and edit stuff in my phone or PC

I open a ftp server on switch and edit it directly on phone through my file manager (which has ftp support)
P/s: There's a text editor for SW already, I remember saw it when scrolling hbshop

Oh cool I might have to look that up. Very new with the Switch's CFW. I only have this for like 3 weeks.
lol and I got my switch just 1 month ago, for ftp server you can find FTPD, I don't recommend that text editor because it's still very rough

    One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

    I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs

    I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
