Hardware I recently acquired a 3ds with a bunch of games in it but I have a concern

I don't know anything about hacking or homebrewing. I just got this 3ds from someone that received it the same way I did.

It had pokemon omega ruby, and I tried to access to the online and wonder trades. And it works fine.

So, a friend game me her game of Pokémon moon to play. But when I tried to get into the online, it said the game needed an update. And when I tried to update the game, the eshop tells me the console needs an update first.

My question is, will the games be unplayable if I update the console? Will I still be able to access the online of the games installed in here?

I have 11.9.0-42U if that helps.

updating couldnt hurt seeing you are on the 2nd newest firmware

Check if it has cfw on it if it doesent that's fine and no updating it will not prevent the games from not working and u can cfw on latest fw

    Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
