Yes, EmuNAND is the name by SX OS and emuMMC by Atmosphere. Anything on the sd card won't make your NAND dirty. But you could simply inject hekate before doing anything and create a full NAND backup.
Oh that would be great. When you say inject it. You mean like boot into rcm and use some windows exe? or? Sorry, real noob here.

So, it's the first time I've had a modded Switch while a firmware update comes out.
I use both sysNAND(OFW) and emuNAND(CFW), is it okay to update sysNAND(OFW) to 9.0.0 and keep emuNAND(CFW) on 8.1.0?
Or will emuNAND(CFW) stop working?

You would have to update your console to a firmware that matches your fuse count. Also, the crashing makes sense because there was an update for the cartridge slot in firmware 9.0 that renders it unusable on firmware versions below 9.0

By firmware are you referring to the Nintendo switch firmware 9.0 that was just released the other day?

If so, do I do it while atmosphere is on (that’s the only way I can access the switch past the black screen).

If not with atmosphere open, could you kindly let me know where I can find a tutorial on how to update firmware on the switch without being able to open the switch. I’ll keep on searching. Thanks for saving my life

It is possible to use Logitech gamepad F710 (wireless with USB do dongle) with docked NS? I have unpatched device. Thank you.

Anyone have experience with cart games crashing? I tried to install an update through a program, it failed. So then when I launch it it gave me an error. So I removed the cart and deleted the software data. So now when I put the cart back in it says it needs to install an update. So I found the latest update file and after I install it the game crashes unless I remove the cart and delete software. Any idea whats going on?

edit:managed to fix it by installing an older update I had laying around, weeird

Hey everyone - I have a question I really need to know.

My bloody has been official firmware updated to 9, stupidly I know, and I really want to play the games.

Right, I did a NAND raw backup when I started, which is on 8.0.1 but the file size is only 27gb big - is this wrong?

How do I know if it will work or not - I'm stressed to fudge.

Somebody have a good tutorial for setting up emummc with homebrew? There a a lot of but all are little bit different.
I use a rcm USB injector. My console is ON 8.1 (is it even smart to do it now or wait until emummc is compatibel with 9.0?)

Using Tinfoil 4.0.0 on a fat32 emunand, trying to download almost any game results in "Install Failed. Quota exceeded" errors, something about magic in the logs, what can this be?
Also - how do I delete homebrew from the main homebrew screen in Atmo, no "delete" option.
Thanks!

Hmm still having problems installing the latest patch for XC2. I've tried from multiple sources but it always crashes which means I have to remove the cart, delete software, and then install an older update I have. I wonder what could be causing it, I have Torna installed separately, could that be related? Any DLCs I install also dont work, in the menu it says I have all the content but it doesn't actually let me actually get any items in game, I guess because they don't match the update version? I could probably just install a nsp of XC2 and go that route, but if I have the cart in anyway it saves me some space and time.

i finally bought the rcm plastic!
i wanted to mod my switch a year ago already.

does somebody know which the safest and foolproof guide (with backups in case something goes wrong) for beginners is?
i found some websites and videos, but i don't know if they are already obsolete and unsafe.

a link would be enough i guess

i bought my switch in 2017 its the mario odyssey model with 6.0.0 ofw. i have used it like 20 hours at max in these 2 years and own 10 games.

this is the guide I followed a week ago, pretty easy to follow https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/.

make sure you update the payload.bin on your RCM dongle as well

thank you so much pofer!
i was think about this guide but will use yours! https://switch.homebrew.guide/gettingstarted/

is updating the payload.bin described in the guide you linked? do i have to do it before installing the custom firmware on the switch or after?
i bought my rcm clip from a chinese ebay seller after my aliexpress order from january never arrived. thanks a lot.

i can't get the amtosphere cfw to launch no matter what. my switch is a rcm exploitable 2017 model and no matter if i injected "fusee primary" or "hekate ctacer 5.0.1" after the kosmos-atmosphere i always get a bootlogo and i have to hardreset my switch to the ofw.

my switch is not connected to wifi and i'm on 6.0.0. and i formated my 128gb samsung microsdxc to exfat.

what could be the solution?

I've read that nes games can be added to nes online, is that still true? How would you access them if it's not recommended to go online with cfw?

Hey everyone, I finally decided to put my Switch online and try the PP shop. I did incognito in addition to local 90dns hosting. PP seems to be working fine but I noticed not all games are showing.
I believe I recall hearing there are different locations to add, like demos, etc, and you can merge the hbg shop I think?
Is hbg relevant anymore? I used to prefer downloading to my pc and then uploading but it was a horror to find updates. Base games is fine, but even then discord bot issues, some sites take a while, etc.
I just want to have more options.

That did the trick to launch emuNAND but when trying to launch Stock 9.0.0 sysNAND it still says unknown pkg1 thingie.

And you cannot boot anything on 9.0 except OFW.

If that's the case what alternatives do I have? I'd like to be able to use my switch online. Can I use the built in formatting tool on the switch to clear everything out or am I just doomed at this point? :(
Your fate lies in the hands of Nintendo.

While you can do that, I do not recommend it as it will prevent you from using any retail cartridges on emuNAND as well as downgrading to any lower firmware versions.

If you can only do it through Atmosphere, then that is how you will have to update.

Don't use Fake/DZ Tinfoil/

Format the SD card to FAT32. Since your SD card is larger than 32 GiB, you will need to use a third-party program. I recommend GUIFormat.

HBG has never been relevant especially after what they did to the piracy scene. If you want games, I personally recommend WarezNX. Cannot provide links as it is a piracy Discord server.

While you can do that, I do not recommend it as it will prevent you from using any retail cartridges on emuNAND as well as downgrading to any lower firmware versions.
My factory fw was 3.1.0 and I have a clean NAND backup of it.
I already can't use retail carts on emuNAND because GC is enabled.
How does having different fw between sys and emu prevent downgrading?
