If the save file wasn't modified or touched in anyway, you shouldn't be banned for transferring it over. Otherwise you risk a ban if the save file has been compromised.

Just curious, has there ever been any confirmation of someone being banned for uploading a modified save to the Nintendo cloud? Or even if you don't upload to the cloud, would they scan your saves?

There is a less drastic measure that doesn't involve deleting Wi-Fi settings or turning on airplane mode that I have seen by myself:
In the Advanced Settings for any Wi-Fi connection, near the bottom of that page, there is an option to toggle auto-connect on a per-connection basis. No Wi-Fi settings have to be deleted, and Joy-Cons can continue to be used wirelessly, and best of all for CFW users, no internet connection will be made when the system boots up. If a saved Wi-Fi connection is nearby, it will not be used unless it is connected to manually.

I've been an Online subscriber for a few of months and uploaded tampered saves to the cloud a couple times.
Still no ban as of yesterday night, but a single case doesn't confirm or deny anything.

I don't know about "confirmed", but I saw at least one claim here of someone having done literally nothing CFW wise aside from edison'ing a single player game.

Could be due to being old atmosphere, or only certain games being policed.

You cannot play backups online without purchasing them. Nintendo realized you went online with a pirated copy of the game and banned you.

So if I use my own backups of the carts that I own it should be fine as long as I am in a clean sysnad with only SX OS to load those xci backups. There are no NSP installs in sysnad and I am using a clean SD card, but with emunand installed previously.

Also going online with less expected fuses burnt will lead to a ban right? Do I have to burn the fuses in sysnand to safely go online?

Hi, I think I got a ban with the error code 2124-4517, it says it is temporary, but anyone with this error has been able to access nintendo servers after some time? I used CFW with some NSPs under airplane mode and decided to go online with the CFW off. Now Im with this error and I did a factory reset just in case is temporary and they lift it up but idk if they will...

Same here when trying to post a picture. And get error 2181-4017 when updating a game. Well, 1 and a half year without getting banned, haven't thought that they took this long. They even lock you out of updating games that need updates to function, e.g. Spyro. Don't think that's legal  Only annoying thing is that I can't post pictures anymore.

Maybe is time to get the revised switch? So you get the upgraded battery for the online games and for the singleplayer games you use the banned one , and what did you do? Xci or nsp online?

I'm finally ready to pull the switch(pun), I've connected on hacdiskmount and can confirm that after a system initialization the user partition is just a bunch of empty folders.

My memory was finally jogged about the contact with nintendo, when we first got the switch we went online that first night, installed a demo, linked a Nintendo ID and then put it in airplane mode and hacked away at it. So wipe the SYSTEM\Save contents or no?

I'm concerned that the servers are expecting these demo tickets to be on the system and they're not, I removed all titles and (i assume) tickets from it, all user accounts except the linked one that should be gone now since I did a system init on it.

On Hekate SYSNAND(CFW) or SYSNAND(Stock) not sure I totally get the difference, both preserve fuses, if I want SYSNAND for online and legit carts only... stock then? It seems people run CFW with legit titles with no major issues, but I don't know if I should chance it.

No people have been banned even for using dumps of games they legally owned but only because they dumped them as .XCI files and loaded them via SX OS. However no one has been banned for having less than expected fuse counts and this is not expected to change. So no, you do not have to burn the fuses to go online safely but if you are paranoid and want to increase your chances as much as possible, you can burn your fuses. Just know that by burning the fuses, you will be stuck with the Fusee Gelee exploit for a very long time if not forever.

I personally use Hekate's Stock mode for loading everything and I have been fine for months. However I cannot recommend wiping files in the SYSTEM folder as there is no telling if Nintendo can tell the difference when you wipe those files or not.

Hello everyone well the ban hammer is in full swing , I’ve just received the code 2181-4017. Yes I’ve had cfw installed and yes I’ve tinkered with retroarch and other emulators . Can anyone tell me how severe this ban is and will they lift it or is that it? I know I’ve tempered and I know this is against Nintendo’s terms but it’s not like I’ve got a million pirated games (I haven’t ) it was retroarch , I don’t do online apart from the eshop and the news app.
It seems with this ban I can’t even update my bought games I have many, as someone has previously mentioned is this even legal . What’s the point of me buying anymore games has Nintendo forced me to bin this unit , it seems pretty drastic they want all these switches in landfills - surly there must be easier punishments they can dish out ? Can I even update my firmware ? Sorry for the ranting and all the questions I’m fuming

You broke their rules. They can do what they want.

Fair point and I except that but it seems very extreme to just bin this switch . I know I can get around it with other measures but what if I wanted to stay legal? Why do they have to lock down firmware updates and legally obtained game updates? Am I being unreasonable thinking they are being unreasonable ?

That is a temp ban code. So your Switch likely isn't binned yet. Consider yourself lucky.

What might help is if you can be more specific about what things you used. Like, which CFW you used, whether you ever used ANY .nsps or .xcis, even homebrew forwarders. Or just try filling out the form at the beginning.

There are people saying that modern atmosphere + mild homebrew (i.e. retroarch) is safe, if you can prove they are wrong it would be good to know.

What I’ve done is I’ve been very naive and assumed updating my bought games via Nintendo’s server while having traces of CFW namely sx pro which I use for retro arch I find it easier . Last year when the ban hammers fell
People were still updating their games , it seems now you can’t do that . So moral of the story I should have kept it in permanent airplane mode .

I mean keeping it in Airplane Mode is like being banned. In fact, I would argue its worse because even if you're banned, you can still update your console's firmware and use regular Internet functions, two things you cannot normally perform in Airplane Mode.

Thanks for the info hope this ban gets lifted soon. I’ll be more careful in the future . Will it help if I ring them or should I just wait it out ?

Temporary bans are a new thing as of last month and this is quite literally the first time Nintendo has ever handed out non-permanent bans. There is no indication of how they are triggered versus regular bans or how long they last but someone did call Nintendo earlier only to find out the ban was actually permanent. Nintendo did a sneaky-sneaky and updated one of their pages that originally said it was a temporary ban to a permanent ban. You've got nothing to lose by calling them but try not to expect any good news either.
