What happens when you restore your NAND backup?

Did you follow the guide? Did you finish it?
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/emummc/partitioning_sd/

If you didn't format either NAND, you can potentially move the /Nintendo/ folder to the proper location so it will be read by the emuNAND. Alternatively, you can backup your save with Checkpoint and then restore it on the sysNAND with Checkpoint. While it probably won't dirty your NAND, it should be avoided if possible, and it's your risk to take.

That's quite the price difference. I personally don't think the extra $150 is worth it for an unpatched unit, but unpatched systems are recommended.

If the patched system is on 4.1.0 and has never connected to the internet, then it should be fully hackable. If you are prone to make a lot of mistakes (i.e. Doing things that would brick your system, accidentally updating the sysNAND, accidentally connecting your sysNAND to the internet without PegaScape, etc.), then you should get an unpatched system.

Copy the /Nintendo/ folder to the proper folder so it can be read by your emuNAND.
Ah, ok. I made a backup before formatting. Going to try this, thank you!

1. I noticed that after I update it to 8.1.0 my PuyoPuyo game card was giving me back this error (See first image below) . I then tried to use my Bayonetta2 game card and the same error message is displayed. Has anyone else run into this problem? So basically, I can’t play game cards.
Your game cartridge slot won't work on 8.1.0 unless you allow it to be updated. By default, Atmosphere blocks updates to the game cartridge slot if it detects that your fuse count is low (which it is in this case). If you're using Atmosphere, open BCT.ini and add "nogc = 0" where appropriate. Doing this, however, will make it so game cartridges will not work with 1.0.0-3.0.2, and they never will again.

Make sure you install Fake News on your 1.0.0 sysNAND if you haven't already.

2. I am also having problem installing NSPs through USB using Goldleaf and Goldtree. I followed all the steps available online and was able to browse my PC folders through my Switch but when I try to install I get this message (see second image below). My SD card is formatted in FAT32 and since my Sysnand firmware doesn’t allow ExFat I’m stuck with it.
Based on what I have found it seems to be a problem with the sigpatches. But as far as I know they came installed with Atmosphere when I downloaded the SDsetup folder from the SDsetup-com website. I tried re-downloading and pasting the sigpatches but problem remains. I was able to install a small NSP through my SD card and did not get the message so I am not sure what is going on.
I recommend doing the following:
  1. Make a NAND backup with Hekate if you haven't already. Store it somewhere safe.
  2. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  3. Download the latest Atmosphere from github (currently 0.9.3)
  4. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  5. Download these signature patches
  6. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  7. Configure Atmosphere to boot your emuNAND
  8. Put the SD into your Switch
  9. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  10. Try installing the NSP file
If you still can't install the file, try using DZ Tinfoil. If you want to install NSP files over USB or FTP, you must be running Nut Server on your computer. If it still doesn't work, post the error you receive in Tinfoil.

I am feeling very lost since my switch is a 1.0.0 and there’s very limited information out there about potential problems and fixes. I will appreciate it if someone with more experience can lend a helping hand.
If you're using an 8.1.0 emuNAND, you're probably not going to have any problems related to being on 1.0.0.

so if i keep my TX jig in i can get boot to sx'x main screen and boot "cfw" and normal firmware. without the jig i get blue screen. i have manged to boot to hekate and finalizing the diry backup.. i think what my problem is might of been on 8.0.1 and not 8.1 like im now. seems to be software issue for sure. my hope/guess is that this restore will fix that issue.
any other suggestions?

UPDATE
switch is up and running with my dirty nand backup.

You're likely dealing with a fuse count mismatch. You cannot boot your 8.0.1 (9 fuses) system normally until you update back to 8.1.0 (10 fuses). To verify, check Hekate for your fuse count. If it's 10 fuses and you're trying to use 8.0.1, then that's your problem.

I just realized I have the same issue with the partitioning... I have one partition as drive D that has everything on it and a drive f that is completely empty. I did finish all the instructions in that tutorial and my drive looked exactly like the one in the picture. Sorry for all the questions and problems.

Did you then setup the emuNAND from Hekate?

Forgive me, but I don't know what your problem is.

Sorry, i'm probably not explaining it right. My sd card is split in 2. One is drive D and one is F. Everything is installing and loading on to D, while F stays empty, leaving me with roughly 30gb that is not being used.

It's being used by your emuNAND. Your emuNAND takes up that entire partition and cannot be used on your computer.

If you install games to your internal storage (NAND) while in emuNAND (instead of SD), games will install to that approximately 30GB partition.

Ah, Ok. it was confusing me since i'm able to copy things over the the F drive... Just sucks, cause now I have 2 nintendo folders taking up the same space in the D drive, one in root folder and one in emuMMC. Again, thank you!

You probably don't need your games in two places. Go into your sysNAND and, from the data management screen, remove any games you only want to be on your emuNAND. After that, go into your emuNAND and, from the data management screen, remove any games you only want to be on your sysNAND.

Noob to Switch hacking. Please be nice...

Trying to install a couple games using Goldleaf and getting this error:

An occurred attempting to install the NSP:
Error: 0x291

Currently using Atmosphere (latest version), Switch firmware is 8.1. Goldleaf/Goldtree latest versions. Installed driver via Zadig and Switch is recognized. I was able to navigate PC folders using Switch and found my way to the NSP's (Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros Ultimate) and attempted to install using USB since my SD Card is FAT32. Also, I'm running Goldleaf using the NRO, as I cannot install any NSP's at the moment.

I've read maybe I'm missing patch files (Kosmos, exefs/kips). I've downloaded these patches outlined on this post , but not sure if that's the direction I should be looking in. Would like some feedback on the issue before I make any changes to the SD Card. Thanks!

If you're using vanilla Atmosphere (i.e. not Kosmos), then these are the wrong patches. Follow these instructions:

  8. Put the SD into your Switch
  9. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  10. Try installing the NSP file
If you still can't install the file, try using DZ Tinfoil. If you want to install NSP files over USB or FTP, you must be running Nut Server on your computer. If it still doesn't work, post the error you receive in Tinfoil.

I was with you all the way till this one. I'm not sure what an emuNAND is, sorry to say.
If you don't know what an emuNAND is, you didn't set one up. Unless you care about online play (or you have a patched Switch), you probably don't need an emuNAND. Skip this step if you don't have an emuNAND.

Gotcha.

Ok, I've downloaded everything you recommended and am ready to move the files to the card. One question though; regarding the patches and putting them on the card, do I leave the patches in their respective folder/subfolders and just move the root "atmosphere" folder straight to the root of the SD card, or do I place the subfolders/contents into specific places on the card?
