I'm currently running 8.1.0 on an ipatched switch and I cant find any info on if I Initialize console on my switch will the firmware version go back to the factory version (either 4.2.0 or 6.2.0 I believe) or wit it delete everything and still be on 8.1.0. Although I'm fairly sure because of the efuses situation I think it will stay on 8.1.0 but I'm just look for further evidence before I do something stupid.

edit - haven't ran any sort of homebrew on it yet, probably gonna shut it off and put it in my closet if I cant hack it.

Once you updated to firmware 8.1.0 you can't downgrade. Also IPatched Switches with fw higher than 7.0.1 have no chances in the future to run any exploit, as the exploits were patched in that version.

By any exploit he means known released exploits. What we have now is probably not what we will end up with. Something will come along sooner or later. But as A rule u should follow if u want A hacked system. The lower the firmware the better as if another newer firmware down the line gets hacked u could always update to that newer one. It just gives u more options in the furture. Stay low if possible.
