Hello everyone!

Thanks again for all the great help I’ve been getting with all my questions.
So I have one more.

I have made the jump to use TX SX.
So I know I need to make a backup of my sysnand for safety reasons.
Then I make a emunand and use that for all homebrew reasons and playing backups.

My question is once I get the backup files, do I just transfer it to the root of the SD card?

Would SX detect it on its own?

Do I have to use another program to install it?

Is there a link that could explain this method?

Thank you again!

Easiest way with SX is just use an external hard drive or flash drive, and format it to ExFat. (but format your sd card to Fat32) you can put XCIs on the external and play them that way, and if you want to install them to your sd card or internal you just hit a in the SX menu under Installer.

You can also use Tinfoil if you just want to install nsps to your sd card, or with usb install through your computer with a little bit of set up.

Have you already been running SX or other emuNAND? If you have already ran CFW and didn't make a NAND backup beforehand there is no way to get a clean NAND backup.

Ok so I would put the XCI in a flash drive and connect it to the dock while the switch is in it. Does that mean the switch has to remain docked in order to play? Or once I install it under the SX menu I can then play in handheld mode?

Thanks for all this info!

No I haven’t actually even did anything yet. I want to make sure I have all the information before starting and messing things up.

So I know SX can back up your SYSNAND and save it on the SD card. So I only plan on playing single player offline titles on the emunand and of course only legit things on the sysnand. I know I have to backup the sysnand first and then create the emunand, right?

So if I want to just go back to the regular sysnand I just boot like normal, correct?
As in I don’t have the SX dongle connected and just turn it on as I normally would?

Or do I have to restore the clean sysnand backup every time I plan to play the legit way?

Once you install it in the sx menu you can play handheld, you're installing it to your sd card. Of course you need a big enough sd card to handle the game(s) you want to install, as well as a big enough external to hold them.

Good.

When you want to restore the NAND backup it should be in the same location as when it was backed up, so the easiest is to just copy the entire folder tree containing the backup. You should make a rawnand backup, and boot0/boot1. I also suggest backing up eMMC Sys. If you need to restore NAND for some reason that and boot0/boot1 are usually enough, as if you restore the full rawnand your games and saves are rolled back to that of the backup. That's why I like to have a sys backup just for recovering from bricks etc, without overwriting user data. Sys backup is only about 2 gb.
Best to start with an exFAT card, so you can back up the entire NAND as one file. Keep the backup and boot0/boot1 safe on your PG and put them on cloud storage as well if you can, if not, put at least the eMMC Sys and boot files on cloud storage, they won't take as much space.
Then format the card as FAT32 (lower chance of corruption and works just as well), and format emuNAND as "hidden partition on SD"

Yeah, boot like normal, don't launch sysNAND through CFW even if it says "launch OFW" because there are still patches in place such as blocking fuse checks, it's not true OFW.

Thanks for explaining all of this. I was definitely beginning to get a bit confused but this just made it a lot clearer. Does SX help with backing up boot0/boot1, eMMC Sys and rawnand? I’ve read that SX does backup your nand but I’m not too sure on the rest.

In the event of a brick or any big issue I would just restore all three, correct?
Does SX also help with the restoration of all three? Or would I need another program?

Sorry I have one more question.
Should I put my switch on airplane mode before I connect the SX and creating the emunand?
Or can I just do that once I get into the emunand?
I want to make sure I am cutting as much communication as possible off from my switch to avoid getting banned.
Any other measures you recommend I take?
