yo so I understand sx supports latest fw, but what is the correct way to update? I'm currently running the original release fw. also, is there any benefit to staying as low as possible atm?
There is no benefit to staying on a low firmware for FG consoles. Just remember to keep a firmware backup and enable autoRCM. If it ever becomes advantages to downgrade, you will be able to without burning any fuses until then.
The proper way to update is to use ChoiDujourNX, a homebrew application. The procedure is outlined here:

Can anybody answer this question?
Now I want to buy a new switch, hack it and transfer my old saves from NAND Back up to new device and continue zelda BotW, is that possible? How can I do that?
It should be possible, but I am not sure how. Going forward, the proper way to extract/restore save data is to use
Checkpoint.
i downgraded my switch from 8.1.0 to 7.0.0 using ChoiDojourNX , now i cant boot it up , i tried using hecate and reinx but nothing works , i didnt make a nandbackup , can i fix it or is it gone forever ?
Hold the power button for 15 seconds. Enter recover mode. Push Hekate again. Backup->Boot0/1, Backup->RawNAND (1-2 hrs), Then Tools->Enable autoRCM. Launch->CFW. Should start normally after that and you will have a nand backup going forward.
I have a launch Switch on 8.1 and a jig coming in the mail today, am I better off waiting for Atmosphere to update with a more user friendly emuMMC before I go messing around with it? I want to keep my sysnand clean for online and use emuMMC for other things offline. Also, is it safe to use Lakka for emulators without worrying about it messing with Horizon? And how do I have both Atmosphere and Lakka set up at the same time?
It is going to be a while before it becomes user friendly. Might as well use SX OS if you care about user friendlyness for emuMMC.
For the time being, Enter recovery mode. Boot Hekate and make a boot0/1 backup and a NAND backup. Then turn it off, remove the SD card and copy the nand backup to your PC. Atmosphere needs it to create emuMMC.
Are you going for a triple boot? OFW (stock) + CFW (Atmosphere/SXOS) + linux (Lakka). Not sure how Linux works but just running it should not result in a ban. It might if it makes changes to the sysnand.
If I'm trying to boot an xci in sx os and it says no game card is found does that mean my firmware doesn't match up? If so can I just use chouDojour to upgrade to 7.x or 8.x and be good to go?
It probably means they are in the wrong folder. The correct folders that SX OS will look for XCI files are in any one of the following:
SD:/sxos
SD:/sxos/games
SD:/sxos/xci
SD:/sxos/nsp
SD:/switch
SD:/switch/games
SD:/switch/xci
SD:/switch/nsp
Edit:
My question is if I want to update the switch can I just update the atmosphere files on my SD Card to the latest version and then boot into the official firmware update and then use the jig to boot back into CFW.
Do not use the official updater. The proper way to update is to use ChoiDujourNX, a homebrew application and update manually. The procedure is outlined here:
https://guide.sdsetup.com/usingcfw/manualupgrade
Note that you will need Sig and Patches after updating. They can be found here:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard...e-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/page-59
i got it to boot into firmware 6.0.0 , what should i do next ? atmosphere isnt installed , i m afraid to close it again , what should i do next ?
What are you trying to do exactly?
How safe is the tin foil method of getting into rcm? I honestly don't think I'd be able to convince my mom to let me buy a jig even if it's from Amazon.....
Order an RCMLoaderOne.

Tell her that if she does not let you spend your $15 on the correct tools for the job that you will probably damage a $300 console by trying to do it the ghetto way.
