I'm looking to play a few Wii games online with a friend (Puyo Puyo 7 (EN TL) and Mario Kart Wii) via Wiimmfi. I'm working with a Wii U, and they've got a Wii.

I can't find a lot of info online about how to set this up. With the pre-patched roms, do I just set up Wiimmfi on the vWIi? Ideally I'd like to run these games from the Wii U home menu via injects, but some info I've found says that's simply impossible?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

you're going to run into 2 sticking points:

if you want it from the wii u menu, you probably have to patch the game to use wiimmfi, then inject the patched version into a wii u installable.

Also, before you get too far, might want to go ahead and test ANY wifi on your vwii side. It is a bit picky about connecting to new routers.

But yeah i think if thats not an issue, its doable.

If you want ez mode, the usb launchers that you can launch once inside vwii will patch the popular games on the fly so no patching needed.

EDIT: ACTUALLY, it looks like for a few popular games, its even easier, no patching necessary: https://wiimmfi.de/patcher/dnspatch

No problem patching the games, Puyo’s translation patch comes with wiimmfi compatibility and it seems easy to apply the same to MK Wii.

So, if I’m understanding, the method to try is as follows:

Make sure the vWii connects to wifi

Set up Wiimmfi on the vWii

Patch the games, then inject them

Play

I was hoping for a simple answer like this! Hopefully this works, I’ll report back.

I saw something about the inject you use as the base has to have the proper webcode, and just that there were bases confirmed to not, like mario kart wii, which implied some bases did have the working netcode. but ive now seen it noted that maybe no such base exists, as the VC you'd use as base were all intentionally sandboxed by N. so I dunno, conflicting things, but dont see any confirmation that anyone ever got wii u menu one to work the way you want it to.
If it works after all please confirm.

Next best thing (which you can find in some thread here) is a wuhb for wii u side and a channel wad for vwii side, that combined will forward you from wii u menu straight into your sd cards usb loader.
