Despite being shrouded in secrecy for an extended period of time, so much so that some fans thought the project might have been abandoned, Nintendo unveiled a new Animal Crossing game for the Switch at their E3 conference this year. Shortly afterwards, in an interview by Mashable, the director and lead of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons team Aya Kyogoku stated that, unlike the series' previous entries, the upcoming title will feature an autosave function. But there's a catch: to achieve this, sacrifices had to be made, as a beloved character had to get laid off work. In their interview, Aya Kyogoku further rehearses:
Aya Kyogoku said:"I think this will be a positive thing for the player, because in New Horizons you can stop playing in the middle of your game and it'll still save .But unfortunately because there's no necessity to reset the game or reset button on the Switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time. He was laid off from his position."
Yes, Mr.Resetti, the short-tempered mole who has been around since the franchise's very first entry, won't be there to yell at you in case you accidentally reset your console without saving due to the game's new mechanic. However, not all hope is lost for what is effectively one of the series' mascots, as Aya Kyogoku hinted he may find a different role in New Horizons:
Aya Kyogoku said:"Mr. Resetti is looking for a new job after his layoff. So please look forward to that."
Seemingly, some YouTubers, game critics and streamers have responded to this unfortunate event that befell Mr.Resseti. In a recent Twitter post, YouTuber TrailerDrake says:
