I will get a switch soon. What if I want to hack my switch but later decide to play online?

I went through some threads and this is how its done?

HACK:
Hack switch - backup nand - use homebrew/backup loaders

UNHACK:
restore nand - factory reset and delete memory card - use eshop and play online again

Am I right or is something wrong? I just want to make sure if its worth to hack the switch and buy a second unhacked switch or just undo all the modded stuff.
Yes you just have to make sure you never go online while using hacks or you will not be able to "unhack" the console when you restore the clean NAND dump made before using CFW/homebrew. You can do this in any number of ways such as not having any Wi-Fi settings, setting up 90DNS, or installing Incognito.

You also do not need to factory reset the console or delete anything from your SD card. Factory resetting is pointless if you restore a NAND backup made before hacking because the NAND backup will wipe anything the factory reset does and more. And clearing your SD card is also useless because there is no evidence Nintendo scans the SD card and even if they did, they run the risk of creating a lot of false positives since having files on an SD card is not indicative of a hacked console.

No CFW can install anything to external HDDs. Only SX OS currently can mount .XCI files from the HDD but this is a live mounting not a permanent installation. You could just spring for a bigger SD card since all CFW support installation onto that.

You will have to use the 'Reset Required Firmware Version' of DevMenu. Unfortunately I cannot link you to DevMenu but Google is your friend.

Games have hard-coded firmware requirements that cannot be bypassed or ignored. The only way around them is by updating your firmware. I personally recommend updating to 7.0.1 as there is nothing that requires being on firmware 8.X aside from online play which is a bad idea with a hacked console anyways.

You can hack (jailbreaking isn't the correct term here) it but bans will continue to be distributed until the console's end of life.

Is your SD card formatted as exFAT? If yes, reformat it to FAT32. If your SD card is already FAT32, try another CFW such as ReiNX to see if your issue persists.

Thank you very much for the information. I figured out a few minutes ago. I have also noticed that Tinfoil 1.6 has that option (Reset Required Firmware Version)

So, I've hit a wall. My google-fu has failed me. the problem.

Ive been playing on a hacked switch 3+ months now, no problems and I'm running OFW 7. Just recently i enabled autoRCM. 1 week ago while playing golf story the game crashed and the switch became completely unresponsive. So I forcefully powered it down and left it for a couple of days. When I got around to it I plugged the switch into my laptop as usual and TegraRCM recognised a RCM device and I sent a payload, successfully according to TegraRCM but i get nothing from my switch. I dont think its low battery

My googling leads me to believe that if its got enough juice to register as an RCM device i should be able to inject a payload and get it onto a charger from there if it is low battery. I hope someone has some experience with this particular problem.
Here is the skinny on a dead battery on a console with autoRCM:
If your Switch has autoRCM, and you do not send a payload, it will just show a black screen when it boots. This black screen is indistinguishable from the Switch just being off. The system will not charge while on this black screen. When you plug in the system to charge it, the system tries to power on. However, since you're not injecting a payload, it just stays on the black screen. Since it can't charge on the black screen, the system does not get charged. The way to fix this is to plug in the system, hold down the power button for a good 10 seconds to turn it off (since it's on the black screen), and wait five minutes for it to charge. Then unplug it from the charge and turn the system on while injecting the payload. Once you have the system actually booted, you can put it back on the charger to let the battery charge the rest of the way.
If it doesn't work the first time, don't panic. You probably just turned the system ON whenever you held the power button instead of OFF. It's impossible to tell whether the system is on or off without injecting the payload. If it won't boot with the payload injected, it means the battery is still dead and to try charging it again. And if you're using something like an SX Pro dongle, make sure the dongle is charged as well (takes less than five seconds to charge it).

Hey guys
So, I’m going to be switching to my clean Nand soon and updating it to 8.1.0 (or whatever is currently the newest FW), but ive read a little bit about potential problems if you later downgrade. Well, my hacked nand is at 6.2 currently, so I really wanna know if I should be weary of something here???

If you update your console while burning fuses, you will not be able to boot the console up normally when you downgrade. While you can boot the console up by sending a payload via RCM that bypasses the fuse check, this usually defeats the purpose of downgrading.

Hello ,

I am very new to the Switch Jailbreak scene but have owned a switch for a very long time , the serial number on my switch is XAJ700035.....
Currently , my OFW version is 7.0.0 and i have never tried any CFW before, thus a clean console.

Was thinking of diving into using the SX OS PRO CFW as it seems like an easier option.

1. Can i maintain in 7.0.0 and keep playing all the latest games with SX OS CFW? for instance currently the Remastered version of The Last Remnant?
2. Later in the future , when Pokemon S&S comes out , will i be able to play online? (I am assuming no but would like a confirmation)

Being that my console has a serial number of XAJ700035... what am I "Safe" of doing to it? As i been regarding about fuses and such.

Thanks in advance.

1) You can play every game which requires 7.0.0 or less. If you want to play newer games, you need to update your console. Luckily you can update your console without burning fuses with ChoiDujourNX.
2) You will only be able to play online if you use EmuNAND. So you keep your current SysNAND clean and create EmuNAND which you will use for offline CFW. Keep in mind that you shouldn't run CFW on SysNAND if you ever want to go online. So in the end you would need to buy S&S if you want to play it online without the risk of getting banned.

Hello , thank you for the reply. So in other words , I can use the SX OS PRO to create an EmuNAND 8.1.0 and keep my SysNAND 7.0.0, correct?
And in the future if I do buy an official Pokemon S&S cartridge , I can use it with EmuNAND and play online?

No, you should not play online during your in EmuNAND. So if you buy S&S you play online in clean SysNAND. EmuNAND is always offline. Of course you need to update SysNAND to be able to play online.

Hi Drax, thanks for the reply
Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific, I already know this. I meant problems downgrading from 8.1.0 specifically. You know, like new security features by Nintendo meant to counter downgrading, something like how the TSEC keys were changed for 6.2 and onward to ruin CFW, but this time for downgrading. But judging from your reply, I guess there won't be any problems in this matter?

No, if you didn't burn fuses, you can downgrade from 8.0.0 to 6.0.0 without the need of injecting a custom payload every time. You're fine.

Hi!

I've just bought a Switch and I have trouble playing downloaded nsp games. I'm using atmosphere (I followed the NH Switch Guide) and I install nsp games with Goldleaf. The installation goes fine but when I try to play a game, the Switch displays "Vérification..." (French for "Checking") and then tries to connect to the Internet. It refuses to go on without a connection, which of course I don't want to provide. In case that matters, my firmware is 8.0.1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
