Pokemon Direct June 5, 2019 - Roundup

As excitement continues to build for this year's new Pokemon mainline entries, Nintendo will be giving us a 15-minute Pokemon Direct to give us some new information, prior to E3. Watch it as it airs live, or check back for the roundup of all the biggest reveals.

We get to see footage of multiple characters fighting a huge oversized Gyarados.
Giant Pokemon are a thing. Giant digital Pokeballs can catch the huge Pokemon.
There's some sort of soccer/football-looking stadium where the giant Pokemon fight.
New never-before-seen Pokemon.

New and old Pokemon will be available.
There is place called Wild Area, which have wild Pokemon that change each day or by the weather and time of day.
You can control the camera in this game.
DynaMaxing is the gimmick for this region, which make your Pokemon turn into a massive size.
Attacks also turn into Max Moves.
Can be used once per battle, and will revert back to normal after three turns.
You can connect to other players.
Four trainers can join to play in Max Raid Battles where you fight tough dynamax Pokemon together.

Leon is the undefeated champion of the Gala region. He has a Charizard and is beloved by the people.
His younger brother, Hop, is your rival.
Magnolia is the Professor who you get your Pokemon from.
Gym leaders will use dynamax Pokemon.
Milo is a grass type gym leader.

Zamazenta and Zacian are the main legendaries.

The games launch globally on November 15. A dual pack will also be offered, with a steelcase and both games.

Ah so my hunch was right, the open world areas are gonna be limited.
Rather pretentious when the sinigng hits "anything you want!" and they show an open world area that is likely very limited.
More surprised they didn't talk about the open areas at all but I think its safe to assume they aren't the main areas.
We want to believe that it's just the areas you walk through but considering they won't show it if means it's obscured for a reason.
I do hope I'm wrong though but it does give me hope the next gen after this will step up this "feature" as fans wish for more.
Still feels like they are playing it safe again but eh par for the course.
I wonder if Diamond and Pearl are up next for a remake before we get the next gen after this.

Still despite the obscuring of some things I am still interested in trying this one out.

Maybe I am getting old for this... I really liked Pokemon over the years. Originally I've started with Pokemon Red on the old Gameboy. It was fantastic. And stopped playing with the Gameboy Advance Saphire Edition.
After that I only played again the Alpha Saphire on the 2DSxl and the Pokemon X Game also of course the "Remake" of the orginal one for Switch.

But I have to say - I miss the old Gameplay. This rushing from one Arena to another, catching some Pokemons or not. Interesting places on the way.

For me this "newer" games feel to overloaded with content - it feels like they try to fulfill everyones wishes and bring always something "special" and "new" into the games. The problem for me is: it feels "forced".

I am the only one?

If your age in your profile is correct, you are far off the target group they make these games for. Could that be it?

I played Red, Gold and Diamond. After that, I lost interest in Pokemon. This version seems very nice. But do we really need giant Pokemon?

Still think the ability to control camera is only on the middle zone of the map called wild area... as they said singular and not plural when talking about the feature...

I do hope we get 60 FPS outside of battle. The first time since the Pokemon Gold & Silver 2001 gbc release that I´m looking forward to a new Pokemon game.

Interesting. Where did you see the exclamation point thing? Unless some actually chase you, you could just avoid most of them, unless you actually want a Pokemon. Not sure how I feel about that.

Eventually this could lead to having camera controls in towns and cities too, in future Pokemon games.

Even if you could use more than one of those in battle, I doubt you would be able to stack them.

Splash actually does damage now.

Meh.

Interesting. Once again, they are combining two different things. Hopefully there will be actually puzzle things in the game too, tho.

I also hope we get more Mega evolutions. Which I also liked more than Z-moves.

...Mind blown. As pointed out before, I'm pretty sure this Smash was based off this. Link

The exclamation point in one of the pics on the official website. The trainer is standing away from it.

Well, an open-world Pokemon game has been a popular request/wish ever since gen1. I'm glad they added that in some measure. I like the idea of raid battles too. The Dynamax thing doesn't really bother me any more than Z-moves, mega evolutions, etc did, but it's not a big attraction for me either.

As long as Sword/Shield don't lock you in dialogue for 20 or 30 minutes at a time like Sun/Moon, I'm happy. Last gen was a low point for the series specifically because of that shit.

I don't know how many others noticed this but when he was talking about Wild Area he mentioned it being a place between cities, it really sounds like Wild Areas are replacing routes, and if so that means the areas are going to be more open with more exploration, and less forced trainer encounters by making you walk a narrow path lined with trainers.
Add to that the multiplayer aspects in Wild Area and this is great news. It may not be open world, but it's a step in the right direction, and a whole lot closer to what you would see in the anime.

That's delusional, Let's Go already showed what a 3DS engine game on Switch looks like. And it's nowhere near this detailed.
They've improved the lighting a little, like a little a little, and the water is prettier, other than that on a technical level it's still looks like a 3DS game with how low poly the models are coupled with the super low res textures.
I'm just being honest, there's more pixel detail on Mario's nipple in Odyssey than there is on an entire t shirt in Sword and Shield, that's not a delusion. =[
