Pokemon Direct June 5, 2019 - Roundup

As excitement continues to build for this year's new Pokemon mainline entries, Nintendo will be giving us a 15-minute Pokemon Direct to give us some new information, prior to E3. Watch it as it airs live, or check back for the roundup of all the biggest reveals.

We get to see footage of multiple characters fighting a huge oversized Gyarados.
Giant Pokemon are a thing. Giant digital Pokeballs can catch the huge Pokemon.
There's some sort of soccer/football-looking stadium where the giant Pokemon fight.
New never-before-seen Pokemon.

New and old Pokemon will be available.
There is place called Wild Area, which have wild Pokemon that change each day or by the weather and time of day.
You can control the camera in this game.
DynaMaxing is the gimmick for this region, which make your Pokemon turn into a massive size.
Attacks also turn into Max Moves.
Can be used once per battle, and will revert back to normal after three turns.
You can connect to other players.
Four trainers can join to play in Max Raid Battles where you fight tough dynamax Pokemon together.

Leon is the undefeated champion of the Gala region. He has a Charizard and is beloved by the people.
His younger brother, Hop, is your rival.
Magnolia is the Professor who you get your Pokemon from.
Gym leaders will use dynamax Pokemon.
Milo is a grass type gym leader.

Zamazenta and Zacian are the main legendaries.

The games launch globally on November 15. A dual pack will also be offered, with a steelcase and both games.

They've improved the lighting a little, like a little a little, and the water is prettier, other than that on a technical level it's still looks like a 3DS game with how low poly the models are coupled with the super low res textures.
Nonsense, the textures are 720p at a minimum unless we're talking about distant textures, and even in 240p the 3DS wouldn't be able to handle this kind of view distance. This is probably UE4 if I had to guess, and what you're actually complaining about is the signature Nintendo/Pokemon aesthetic.

I wouldn't hold my breath for good performance, game freak can't program for shit.
gen 1: multiple bugs and glitches.
gen 2: they didn't knew how to compress data until iwata himself went ahead and compressed the data for them.
gen 3: glitch that breaks berry growth. hopefully they fixed it in subsequent revisions.
gen 4: slowest animations in the series, did they just forgot to adjust them after they decided to drop from 60 to 30 fps?
gen 5: seems to be the most stable of them all (except sky drop), they even bumped the performance back to 60 fps in-battles (overworld is still 30 fps).
gen 6: limited 3d support and performance drops galore in-battles even with 3d off.
gen 7: almost non-existent 3d support and no texture filtering, leaving the game looking very blocky.

don't own a switch or seen anything about poke let's go to have an opinion, so I wont.

Cons:
That shitty song (seriously, whose decision was it to use such shitty music?)
Low-res textures
Um.... Dynamax? Really?
I'll still probably buy it

Pros:
World seems more vast
It's a Pokemon game
It's on the Switch

Mega Evolution was good. Z moves were good. This Dynamax gimmick... I just... Can't we just have more Megas and stories about the parallel universes again? Just feels like they're improving it into a failure. The idea that the moves are simplified is kind of a letdown, too.

Signature Nintendo/Pokemon aesthetic is textures so pixelated that you can't make out logos on shirts, or flat, everything has a look of plastic lighting, or super low res environment textures that look blurry but they're clearly in focus only a couple feet away? Can't say that I agree when none of Nintendo's first party titles suffer from any of these issues.
It's a GameFreak issue plain and simple, they're not ready for console level games. Whereas every other Pokemon related content no matter it's platform looks beautiful, lively, and expressive, GameFreak's 3D games have been very flat and one dimensional, even robotic. Town looks great though. ;p

We're dumb to argue though, you're making assumptions on pixel counts and engines, and I think something is ugly.
You win. =]

Just had a thought what is stronger max moves or zmoves because they might have made zmoves pointless if max moves are stronger even if not because dynamaxing is 3 turns versus 1 attack. Also might have made mega Evolution pointless if any pokemon can dynamax if the stat boosts from it are high enough.

Technically, they've already made non-Pokemon console (ie. home console) games, but they've all been in 2D (ie. Pulseman, Giga Wrecker, Tembo the Badass Elephant, etc.). The only non-Pokemon 3D games they have so far are HarmoKnight (3DS; it's a shame it was pretty short and repetitive in some areas) and the upcoming Town game. Looking forward to hearing more on the latter.

On the other hand, Genius Sonority knew how to handle the 3D Pokemon games they made (despite the issues Battle Revolution had). It would have been nice to have them working on 3D Pokemon games again, which does make me wonder if we'll ever see another one made by them again.

Every gimmick will be exclusive to said entry as far as I know, and from the 4chan, Mega evolution will be replaced by gimmick called Gigamax - pokemon appearance changing.

If the name for that had been Mixi Max, it would have been an Inazuma Eleven Go: Chrono Stone reference. I suppose that something like that would be more in line with what the little 2-colored swirl icon in the JP/KR logos might represent, besides Dynamax of course. Is this from the same thread that has gotten everything right so far or is it from another one?

Oh it was? I thought it was the fact that there were no feature and was very barebones that killed it.
That comes on top of it, sure.
But the fact that their stupid Super Mushroom bullsh*t was used as their main mode (and therefore was used in all other game modes except classic mode (which was the only thing I played there) killed it.

Dynamax is a reference to the ultraman franchise. Dynamax is the term used for when a human fuses with an ultraman. Causing the ultraman’s powers to be boost. Depending on the series, new skills and abilities are unlocked. And in the very early series, allowed the ultraman to return to their original size. Their original size being the size of Earth’s skyscrapers.
