Microsoft launches new all-digital Xbox One S edition next month

While we look to the future of what both Microsoft and Sony have up their sleeves for their next console, that doesn't mean that this generation doesn't have anything left to give. Microsoft has announced the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which as the name implies, is a version of the system that includes everything except the disc drive. Targeted as a budget model for those that prefer forgoing physical media, the All Digital will retail for $250, a full $50 less than a standard console. It'll also come with three first party games; Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 3. If you're interested, you'll be able to pick up an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition when it releases next month, on May 7th.

Who's gonna buy this? Yeah, it comes with some games, but for $50 more, you get one with *gasp* a disc drive!
If it was closer to ~$150 (without the games obviously), then I could see this being more reasonable
Why would someone pay $50 for a disk drive if they never intend to use it?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

BUT... BUT MUH CHEAP PRE-OWNED DISCS.
They arent getting rid of the version with the drive, dont worry.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Ehhhh, too expensive for what it is imo.
All they did was take out the disk drive that many gamers dont even use anymore, what are you expecting them to do? Options are good imo :).

This.

I was hoping the all digital Xbone would have a huge discount, not a measly $50. I'd rather buy a pre-owned system for $150 than this thing >.>

It shows that Microsoft doesn't care about the Japanese market since the Japanese really love their physical stuff but it's not like any of them are buying.

It's stupid that the games are not already in the hdd. Hopefully the downloads aren't 100GB like the ones that came with my X. $200 with the games would have been a better impulse buy. People are also reporting that Halo footage is either obviously fake or an upcoming patch since the game doesn't do split screen and the screens are showing different maps.

I never had any interest in purchasing a xbox system and this doesn't help. Sorry, but try again. Funny video, but not funny for my wallet. All digital content is bad idea if there is no reassurance that it will be preserved or remain even after the console is being neglected in favor of newer ones. I don't want to buy a system that could someday be dead just cause the digital store for obtaining software is gone and no disc drive to play disc.
