Hello everyone.

I plan on buying the PlayStation Classic as it's just $30, so why not.
Anyway,

1. I plan on hacking it and add more games. Is it really easy to do and is there a brick risk?
2. Is there also a better PlayStation emulator than the standard one and can you do more emulators?
3. Since it's really easy to take the console everywhere, can I use any USB cable that comes with Android phones and is it even possible to just plug the USB into the TV aswell so I don't need to plug it into a wall?

4. Since the controller ports are actually USB, what controllers are supported? If not, is there a homebrew program for it?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes it's really easy, you can even load games from a thumbdrive in the player 2 usb slot now. No real risk of brick if you can follow instructions.
2. Not really. You can use any core with RetroArch compatible for the PSClassic architecture but it's still limited right now. But you can set some improvements. Since the hack enables RetroArch to be installed, you can use any cores compatible so yes, you can do more emulators.
3. You can use any compatible USB cables but the power supply (not included with the console btw) needs to provide 1 amp. Most TV don't provide 1 amp from the USB plug, most phone chargers do.
4. Right now the problem is that the USB ports don't provide enough power to get other controllers than the stock ones working. Some USB Hubs work to with the console, you'll have to do some googling for that.

Thanks a lot for the very informative and quick reply.

Ok so, I'm ready to hack this thing tomorrow.
I read not all USB Flash drives will work, so which ones will work?

What is the best video I can watch, because I don't want to have outdated stuff so ^^ I only know I must get myself a 2.0 drive and not a 3.0 unless I use a hub.

The Sandisk Cruzer USB 2.0 drives work perfectly, don't use USB 3.0 as they draw more than the 100 ma limit that the PSC can handle. I use the 32 GB drive, works great, and cheap too.

How do you know if the USB stick works in the PlayStation Classic?
On the box it says 3.1/3.0/2.0, am I good?

Assuming you have a Windows computer handy, you can check the (nominal) current draw by going to device manager, then the properties of the hub it's currently plugged into

For the actual one, use those usb meters that are for sale everywhere online ;) (an Y-cable with the power-only side plugged into an external transformer will likely work around this issue, as probably will disconnecting the power line for the port from the motherboard and connecting it directly to the console's power input; your fire insurance company has never heard of me)

I can't find what I actually need...

So I did it in my PlayStation Classic anyway and see what happens. I put Autobleem on there and a few games, what is actually supposed to happen?
It boots up the PlayStation Classic original menu, do I miss something?

Is there a good updated tutorial for it?

I use a 256gb SanDisk thumb drive plugged into the back USB power port with an otg cable. That way you don't have the problems with the low powered USB ports on the front and you can plug in both controllers. Running autobleem with hundreds of psx games as well as retroarch with tons of classic games.

They have a survey on their website asking "how much would you pay for this console" and of course all the simps will say "a billion dollars" and skew the results.
