Hello, I just got my switch running Atmosphere 8.3 for the first time today. I put some emulators and open source apps on from the homebrew switch store. Some are working, but some are not. I am not sure why, but I think it is related to the old fw of 5.0.0 I am running? For example, using either of the n64 cores in retroarch causes it to crash as well as open outrun. I have had luck with nes, snes, mame stuff and the open duke3d but thats all I have tested so far.

I was hoping to get some suggestions before I update the switch firmware as most things I have read say to stay on the oldest firmware version if possible.

If I do need to update, would it be version 6.2 and would that require autoRCM to prevent the fuses from blowing? Thanks for any advice.

Is your SD card exFAT or FAT32? If exFAT, try formatting to FAT32. If it is already FAT32, make sure you formatted the SD card with the allocation size of 32K

Are you using the Retroarch NSP or launching via homebrew menu? For mupen N64 you need the NSP or you'll get a black screen.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out what I was doing wrong with the cannon ball game. Still can't figure out the retroarch n64 stuff though. I followed a guide for installing it, but it crashes everytime I try a n64 game. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The SD card is fat32, not sure about the 32k thing though.

I have tried it both ways, NSP version and homebrew menu, with two different n64 cores and it crashes each way.

When I try the NSP way, I extracted and copied the retroarch folder to the root of the SD card along with the NSP file. After installing it, the interface looks different than the homebrew version, then it asks me to update the assests which I don't know why since the retroarch folder is over 1GB, I figured it must have everything in it but I don't know. After the update, the font looks much better, but game still crashes when trying to launch.
