ok everyone. since I updated and reinstalled lockpick and redid my keys. I used the 4nxci again (after it woudnt work last time) and it created a nsp file this time. its installing now on the switch! so thank you everyone who helped me!

just a noob question: can you play newer games on a low FW 3.0.2 switch but with CFW installed?

From what I can tell, yes you can but IDK if you will be able to skip over several Major version updates without issues (ie; the first number in a version number in your case say 3.x.x to 6.x.x). I think it would depend on the SDK that the game uses and which SDK was used in each particular firmware.

As earlier replies point out, you are probably better off just updating with ChoixDuJourNX to avoid blowing fuses, and if you don't already I would suggest using autorcm to avoid blowing fuses by booting normally (with the stock bootloader).

I also should point out that if you have no intention on going online I have found that most stuff I use works well with version 5.1 and I have no intention on going any higher without a compelling reason (for instance, if it starts breaking homebrew I like).

To be clear, what it depends on is the master keys, you need to have them for whatever game you are using is encrypted with. They don't change with every single update although I am pretty s\certain they do with major versions. I'm not at all certain exactly how it works, it's been a while since I was interested in it, and it seems the good write-ups have started to dry up.
