How do you guys/gals set the controls for fps games?

Specifically Id like to swap the analog sticks.

You asked for the exact files that everyone is using. No one is going to be able to give you that since everyone is using different nightly builds and configs.

How are you launching RetroArch? Through the NSP? Through the Album Applet > Homebrew Menu? Through title replacement? You have to use title replacement for best compatiblity and performance.

The mini stutter that you mention is the dynamic recompiler in action.

To display in 16:9 you have to change 'Settings > Video > Aspect Ratio', as well as 'Quick Menu > Options > Aspect Ratio'.

Is your SD card formatted as Exfat? It sounds like it is. Switch to FAT32.

Mupen64Plus-Next is the recommended core. Make sure you have 'Settings > Video > Threaded Video = Off', 'Quick Menu > Options > CPU Core = dynamic_recompiler', and 'Quick Menu > Options > Framebuffer Emulation = False'. Adjust these and other settings as you see fit to try and improve performance.

I am lunching it vita the Homebrew App that is installed as it's own title. Is that what you ment with "title replacement"?
So mini stutters is normal and everyone has it?
What does it matter if sd card is formatted to fat32 or exfat?

Next is the recommended one? whats the difference with the "normal one"
Thanks for your reply

Do you guys sometimes have " an error has occured this software must be closed"? It seems to happen esp when going in and out of retroarch menu when you booted a game.
I unlocked a charachter in smash bros. but then i reset game. and the charachter was not there. How do I save, apart from using save states?

It will only work without patches for horizon 4.X
The hekate patches will be released once 7.0 is ready, I will also PR it to atmosphere then (scires said they will accept the patches), I will also need to coordinate some libnx changes with switchbrew.
Thanks, yeah I meant the source for hekate. I was hesitant to say anything as I don't want to be a dick about it, I'm really happy you're working on this stuff, am just curious and itchy for cool new things. That's awesome that atmosphere is accepting the kernel patches too, saves having another set of ips files that we have to keep telling people to install. Good work!

Nice! With this and the nightly build, plus I copied the config into Retroarch.config. Everything runs smooth! Some graphical glitches, things don't render until youre close (SM64 Trees).

I'm happy! Thank you. Is there a way to get objects to not flicker..like the SM64 Trees or the certain parts on Diddy Kong Racing?

Has anybody written some instructions to install/configure this version of mupen64 with dynarec working?

Are you using m4xw's config?

Use mupen next

The stutters are just the game learning, it's the best it's gonna be at the moment

Load the core first if it keeps booting you back to retroarch

Is your sd card exfat?

Use the full overclock, it's safe
What's m4xw's config?

Using patron's exclusive mupen core through sx os is possible?
Possible for exclusive build, no. But the public builds (retroarch nightlies) do launch and run through hbmenu or retroarch nsp on any cfw and also through sx title redirect (holding R while launching an installed game launches full ram in hbmenu) but every way other than atmosphere title redirecting (I can't post links here yet but search "Use Atmosphere to access full ram homebrews without nsp" on gbatemp it's been linked multiple times in this thread as well) is unsupported and prone to unique issues that nobody will help you with, I can tell you from firsthand experience that it's more trouble than it's worth (occasional freezing, crashing, things not working as expected) for the convenience of not having to set it up in one very particular way, so you're likely better off just doing the extra bit of work to launch it in the way it was intended to be launched to save yourself that trouble in the long run.

And to answer your question at the top of the page, those files (reduced stutter build that requires hekate w/ additional patches>atmosphere launch) are exclusively on the discord for $1+ patreon supporters atm. You don't need to install discord to use discord, you can use it through your web browser too (at least on pc) just make a discord account then use the discord invite link on his patreon it will ask you to link your patreon to your discord account to gain access to exclusive content. glhf

Thank you very much for your answer. Yes, I already have my patreon account with the discord account and I have had access to the exclusive core mupem. It is true, that core does not work with sx os, it always gives me error. I would use it with hekate but it would mean doing it on sysnand. And I use all the homebrew on emunand to avoid being banned (yes, I'm still alive).

TX need to implement the required ControlCodeMemory patches for the core to work. This is down to them. But don’t worry - once the patches are upstreamed to Atmosphere, I’m sure TX will coincidently realize how to do it.

The patches are only unreleased for now because a release is being coordinated with Reswitched and Switchbru. It’s not a conspiracy.

I am launching Hekate with ContolCodeMemory patch using external payload (via SX bootloader) to then launch Atmosphere 0.8.1. I have the atmosphere launcher.ini configured to launch hbl with Thumper and hbl.nsp loads successfully as does the latest version of Retroarchswitch.nro from 04/02 nightly. From there I am using the latest mupen64 next build available to patrons to load sm64 and tloz mm .... Both crash back into Horizon (I only tried these two) upon booting the game. On my second attenpt (when booting mm) horizon crashed forcing me to reboot the switch. Anyone having these issues or might know what is wrong (or where I could start)?

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I just updated to 0.8.3 (replaced primary .bin in the hekate payload folder as well as secondary in atmosphere folder and all kip files) i tried loading sm64 and it crashed to horizon...tried a second time and it crashed to horizon and then horizon crashed again.
