Usually what I do to turn it off is use the "power off" option on the Switch, once its "off" hold the power button for 15-ish seconds

Umm... no. Nothing prevents downgrading since the sleep mode bug was fixed. You just can't boot OFW if you're downgraded. And you'd be an idiot if you even tried to boot OFW with a downgraded machine anyway...

First of all, its not bug, its intended behavior
Secondly doing that to most people is completely useless because the reason most people want to be able to downgrade is to take advantage of exploits in Horizon that are only available in older firmwares (ex. 1.0.0 Jamais Vu, 2.0.0-4.1.0 Deja Vu), so they dont have to rely on RCM, which requires booting into OFW obviously.

My Switch being on 4.1, it doesn't support exFAT. Can I still make a NAND backup or should I use ChoiDuJour to bring exFAT support to 4.1, backup my NAND and then update to 6.2?

Hekate can make nand backups on fat32, it splits it into 2gb parts that you can merge with the joiner scripts on the hekate releases page

CFWs (until very recently) used Nintendos warmboot, which is intended to panic if the fuses are too low, so it IS intended behavior. People have known how to get around with it for ages, they just couldn't do it because we didn't have a public warmboot exploit, which is required to patch or replace warmboot

I certainly wouldn't consider it intended behavior (of the CFW)
It was simply an unfortunate side effect of how the exploit chain worked (or more specifically, how it didn't)
But I wouldn't exactly call it a bug either. I think "issue" is a more correct term here.

There is also EmuNAND which you can just update instead of your SysNAND allowing you to boot the new coldboot exploit on a lower firmware without updating your SysNAND so you can play games that require higher firmwares. You cannot ignore all firmware requirements of games with Tinfoil such as the firmware they are programmed to work with.

That doesn't work for games encrypted with a higher masterkey than your firmware supports
