I just installed reinx on my switch and I want to install some games. However I know that playing .nsp games online is very dangerous, so I'm asking here, is there any .nsp Nintendo games that won't make my switch get banned?

.nsp files are packed using a process that is detectable through your switches system logs. Any installation of any Homebrew files will result in a system ban when you next connect to a Nintendo online service, e.g. eshop etc.

The same applies to pirated games.

I used homebrew on 4.1. Still on 4.1 but haven’t turned on my Switch since June. Should I try to wait for Atmosphere’s EmuNand to create a “new” clean NAND?
If you don't have a clean NAND backup, you might get banned even if you make a new NAND with ChoiDujour. It's not known exactly what Nintendo is detecting besides obviously logs. And there's no telling what they might detect in the future.

To install a nsp, you have to break the contract that you accepted when you first turned on your console
If you care about online, simply don't hack it or buy another console for online
If you hack it anyways, then you are accepting that you can get banned

Please don't go online with a hacked Switch at all. Make a NAND backup before hacking with Hekate, then restore that if you ever want to go online.

This. Even if you don't care about getting banned I still wouldn't take it online. Ever. Other problems can still come up.

Will using RetroArch.nsp lead to ban too?

Doing anything other than what nintendo intended you to do with your switch will get you banned. you already ran cfw so you are already at risk of being banned. You don't have to do anything else to get you banned.

Confirmed: Using my switch as a Coaster will get me banned.

Tinfoil is wasted
No? Just keep your switch perm-offline while you're pirating stuff, then restore a clean NAND when you're done. If you really want to go online, you're going to have to pay the Nintendo subscription fee anyway, so you clearly have money to just buy the game.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
