Yes. Not backing up the necessary files will most likely bite you in the ass at some point. Backup the rawnand and boot 0/1. You could be holding a 300$ paperweight by not following these steps.
Alright thanks, just have to wait it out i geuss. One more thing, I havent touched my switch since ages. Am on 3.0.1 right now, doing the backup, and then updating to the latest firmware to play pokemon (legit copy). Im fine doing this right? I can still go back with my Nand backup?

If you want to downgrade back you’ll have to use ChoiDujourNX for the update from 3.0.1 to avoid burning efuses. Otjerwise you’ll have to update first, then do the backups.

Geuss I fucked up a bit, already doing the Nand backup. Will look into choidujourNX, any guide you can link me too?
EDIT: think I found the guide, choidujour seems like its a bit complicated. whats the problem of burning efuses? is it just not being able to downgrade?

Yeah basically. For example, the 6.2 OFW situation hurt because the update burned a fuse while also breaking CFW operation. You could downgrade back to 6.1, but sleep mode was broken because when the console wakes up, it checks fuses. On 6.1 there were 7 fuses burnt. On 6.2 there are 8. Once a fuse is burnt, it’s burnt for good. So when the fusecheck happens on wake up, it freezes up thinking it should have 7 fuses burnt but there are 8. Updating with the CDNX method keeps the fuse (in theory) from being burnt so true downgrade is possible.

Wait up even if I use this guide to update my firmware and then launch the latest firmware normally then it still burns the fuses, thats kinda shitty.
Yeah now you get it. I’d just update OFW to whatever is on the Pokemon game if I were you. It won’t be the latest but it’s high enough to run it.

Maintenance mode is what you need. https://gbatemp.net/threads/deleting-downloaded-update.505884/

The issue here is that my friend wants to play online, which I assume you need the latest firmware for. And if I update, my back up im making right now is useless correct?

Yeah because the nand changes. Online will get you banned also. The console cert gets blacklisted by Nintendo. Unless you mean lan play or local wireless.

No I mean online, I havent launched cfw yet. only making a nand back up at the moment. I meant playing an official copy on the latest firmware, that cant get you banned right?

Ah I see, nah you should be ok. Don’t quote me on that, but o haven’t heard of anyone getting banned by hekate. Only being in CFW and using NSP’s (that’s a eshop file)

Hi,
Dumb question but when you're in AutoRCM and power off the switch within the SX OS loader, does it go back to AutoRCM or does it really power off ?

Nooby here again :)

If i want to back up my switch to an original state (current i used it with cfw 6.0.1 ReinX) how can i do that.
I need inject hekate payload and choose my sysnand backup?

Another question, if i remove the sd card and choose this method (becouse my save files) is it work, and i get an original, clean sysnand?

Hi all,

im new to "Switch" cfw thing. I read many tutorials and thread and got some Questions. Dont want to messed it up...
Switch Version: 5.1.0

I buyed OS SX and the dongle. If i upgrade to 6.2. the dongle will be useless thing. Or can i "upgrade" the dongle by myself later?

Dont upgrade to 6.2. SX OS not supported this firmware version yet. So you cant use your dongle to reach your cfw.

Only method to use 6.2 with custom firmware is Atmosphere.

If by latest firmware you mean 6.2, only Atmosphere is supported currently.
Hi,

Based on my testing, SX OS Loader doesn't properly turn off the Switch (for some odd reason) and reboots it into RCM. Their Power Off option only works if you have the SX Pro or any dongle inserted into the Switch.

Both the ReiNX toolkit and Hekate can dump the "NAND" (gonna be using quotes to refer to the eMMC from now on since the Switch doesn't actually have a NAND). The "NAND" is comprised of 4 different partitions but one of them is unused. The 3 partitions that comprise your entire "NAND" backup are boot0, boot1, and eMMC raw GPP. The raw GPP is comprised of eMMC SYS and eMMC USER where SYS stores all of your console & save data and USER houses installed content such as games, updates, and DLC.

SD card has no affect on the "cleanliness" of the NAND.

Can I use a Sonic Mania Plus cartridge to upgrade from 4.1.0 to 5.0.2 and get exfat SD support? I have SX Os and looking for the quickest method of getting exfat support.

If you mean the cartridge itself, no. Cartridges don't have exFAT support on their firmwares. If you dump the firmware from Sonic Mania and install it with ChoiDujourNX, ChoiDujourNX can patch the firmware so it has exFAT support when it is installed.
