How can i add friends or go online on the 3DS whitout having to do an systemupdate ? I'm on the latest cfw.

Just do a system update. There's another method but it's not worth the hassle.

I did the luma update but i still got the error code "002-0119 !

You have to update the SYSTEM, not Luma, that much should be obvious to even newbies... If you have b9s or even a9lh installed, then updating from the system settings is 100% safe, you lose absolutely nothing, it's even right there in the guide for CFW. Update the system and it will work just fine.

Updating just the EmuNAND should be fine. EmuNAND isn't even needed anymore with Luma, so you don't have to worry about loosing cfw.

That was just a small issue with 11.8 and Luma 9.0, but it was fixed in Luma 9.1

You can update both SysNAND and EmuNAND to 11.8.0-41E, but why are you using EmuNAND? Unless you do dev work messing with CTRNAND stuff, EmuNAND is not needed in this day and age for the 3DS.

You will not lose your custom firmware when updating to version 11.8.0-41E for the 3DS firmware.

As was said previously, make sure you're using Luma3DS v9.1 and boot9strap v1.3 before you update. If you have Luma3DS v9.0 or older, you'll get a "Failed to apply 1 FIRM patch(es)" error, which is fixable by updating to Luma3DS v9.1.

1. Use the CFW starter kit found here if you're not sure what you have.
2. Follow this guide: Updating B9S
   • You'll want to have Luma3DS v9.1, boot9strap v1.3, and GodMode9 v1.7.1 on both SD card and (SysNAND) CTRNAND.
   • Ditch your EmuNAND when you get the chance.
3. Update the 3DS firmware in System Settings.

You put Windows on a hard drive as your main operating system, which is like your SysNAND for the 3DS.

Then, you install Linux Ubuntu/Mint/Manjaro/whatever on a second partition on that same hard drive; that's like EmuNAND.

Your Windows side does not recognize your Linux stuff. Technically, your Linux could see and explore files in Windows but for the sake of argument, they're both separate entities residing on the same hard drive but don't acknowledge one another.

That's what having SysNAND and EmuNAND is like for the 3DS. You install a set of programs/titles/games on one XxxNAND, but the other XxxNAND does not have a record of having installed those.

This is one of the reasons why we're asking why are you using EmuNAND when it's not typically needed for modern 3DS CFW usage.

Everytime i switch from emunand to sysnand i have to unwrap the installed cia's again, so on SYSnand i go to system settings and do the update? I just want to go online to add friends.Sorry for being a pain in the ass

That will happen because your SysNAND and EmuNAND are linked. In other words, they share the same exact Nintendo 3DS folder.

As for why some some games are recognized by both SysNAND and EmuNAND, you probably installed a set of games on one XxxNAND and then used or copied making that into the other XxxNAND. Anytime you switch from one to the other, that NAND will notice something has changed in those titles and update its HOME Menu icon cache. In order words, that switched NAND will assume those tampered titles are new installs.

If you want to quickly unwrap multiple HOME Menu titles, use Cthulhu.

You can update either SysNAND, EmuNAND, or both to 11.8.0-41E.

It's generally recommended you ditch your EmuNAND. To do this,

1. Backup all your EmuNAND game saves + extdata with Checkpoint or JKSM.
   • You should backup titles found on SysNAND while you're at it.
2. Dump all your EmuNAND titles [games / DLCs / updates] as *.cia with GodMode9.
   • GodMode9 Usage - Dumping a Title
   • For EmuNAND, instead of [A:] SYSNAND SD, look in [B:] EMUNAND SD.
   • You may need to manually/selectively backup titles that are from EmuNAND.
3. Copy all the stuff on your SD card onto a computer.
4. Using MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition), delete the EmuNAND by merging the SD card's partitions into one. Reformat the card with these settings:
   • Partition: Primary
   • Disk: MBR
   • File System: FAT32
   • Cluster size: 32 KB
     • For further instructions on how to use this software, read this post.
5. To ensure your SD card isn't faulty or fake, it's best to check while it's empty with a Full Write + Verify Test in H2testw.
   • I advise you don't skip this step if you've never used H2testw on that SD card.
   • If it passes the test, delete the *.h2w test files.
   • If at any moment an error is reported, stop the test. You need to replace the card; it can't be fixed. Go back to step 3 or 4.
6. Copy all your stuff back onto the card.
   
7. From post #16 above, update your custom firmware to Luma3DS v9.1, boot9strap v1.3, and GodMode9 v1.7.1. Then, update your 3DS firmware to Sys 11.8.0-41E.
   • There are two parts to your custom firmware: SD card and CTRNAND. You need to update both.
   • Update the custom firmware first before updating the 3DS firmware.
8. Reinstall all your *.cia titles that was originally from your EmuNAND with FBI.
9. Restore the saves and extdata for those games with whichever save manager you used.

Edit - I forgot a last step.

10. Backup your SysNAND and keep the *.bin image safe somewhere on your computer or external drive.
