Hi. Lately whenever I'm playing my mh4u game I keep running into these errors. It says something about a redgiant? If any knows how to fix it, please do tell.

As far as I know, ErrDisp is an error that happens when a module of the console crashes (because damage, glitchin', both, or even an unstable Luma3DS version).
I never heard of a "redgiant" error, but... maybe...
Just to be clear, reinstall the latest Luma3DS version (not commit), and report the results back.
Also, when does this errors happen? How many time passes before the console shows that error?

I'll try it. Also the error is completely random

Completely false, ErrDisp is a module responsable of showing errors that other processes may encounter, in this case, redgiant is the mh4u internal name. OP, could you give more info on when exactly does the error happen?

Well I guess it mostly happens near the end of hunts. Right before or right after. Otherwise it's pretty random like if I walk around or I go into my menu. Also right before it happens the music cuts off

Btw what I did on mh4u was edit in a few talismans that fit within the games limits. I also hacked in a few items and stuff on my guild card like monster kill counts I lost due to the errors. So the errors started awhile after I hacked in a charm. Confused on what's causing it...

Sorry for yet another post, but I came up with an idea. Do you think if I uploaded my save here it'd be possible to figure out what is causing the error? I used apm save editor on it only
UPDATE: now it's on a timer when in sunsnug isle? And I do believes it's save corruption as I tested my other saves and this does not occur. Which hopefully means its simply just reverse a thing I've done or replicate what I've done on my main save 1 by 1 on another until I get the error and reverse that on my main. :P

I have the game installed on the n3DSXL. If you want someone else to look at the save, provided the backup made from either the latest relatively new Checkpoint or JKSM. Zip the game's save folder and upload here or a host site like 1fichier.com. Copy the removal link if you want to later deleting your archive. If you use luma game patching on MH4U, provide that as well.

Here it is. I put the extdata as well just in case. I don't use game patching on mh4u btw. User1 is the save in question

I don't know what I was looking for with your backup. Despite possessing this title, I've never played this game before or the others in this series that much, except the practice quests in MH3U and MHGU. On a test trial using your original provided save, I took on a quest and got beat up by the Wyvern(?) creature in some lava stage after you jump off a ledge. I also quit that quest to get back to town. Does your 1st character's save crashes either way whether you succeed, fail, or quit the quest? Or does it happen only when you succeed?

***

Anyway, try this.
I restored the save and extdata on my game back to the provided original. Then, I relaunched MH4U, got past the menu selection to see the town, exited back to the menu, exit the game, go to Checkpoint, and then re-backed them up. Maybe re-backing them from a different 3DS may fix your issue?

***

If this save+extdata doesn't work, you should.
  1. Copy everything off your SD card
  2. Reformat it as FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size. Use guiformat if bigger than 32 GB.
  3. While empty, do a Full Write + Verify Test with H2testw to check for hardware defects.
  4. If it passes, delete the *.h2w files. Copy everything back on and check the game again.

It happens when I suceed. Interestingly I've been playing for the past few hours and no crash which is good. I'll try your files though

O Boi it's been awhile. I have an update though... It's basically the same but errors slightly more often. whenever it errors though the music cuts off so I think it might be a corrupted music file? And if so maybe I could get a fresh copy of those files and replace the corrupted ones with the good ones. This might be the case as when I set music volume to 0 it almost never errors. I like my music though so I'd prefer replacing the files. I've already started a new save which I'm matching up to the current 1 right now but I want to try something new as last resort. In summary: could I replace the music files with fresh ones as it only errors when the music cuts off, or is it screwed? I only haven't tried it yet because I feel like it might mess something up if it's not the case.

Update: it worked! Replacing the music did indeed stop the errors. So for anyone having the same issue try uninstalling and reinstalling the game as ur current copy might have corrupted files in it

This sounds more like a case of SD corruption. Games don't just end up getting corrupt for no reason. I would consider finding a replacement soon if I were you.

Well the thing is its the only game that has had the issue and believe me I have like 60+ digital games. Ive modded some of them too and they never had a error
