[Update] Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood rated for PS4

IMG_1503.JPG

Yet another ratings board leak reveals the existence of an upcoming game. Konami appears to have something up their sleeves called Castlevania Requiem, which according to the Korean Ratings Board listing, is a collection of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood. There's currently not much more information to go by, pertaining to this re-pack being a remaster or simple port. Regardless, it's been rated for release on the PlayStation 4. Both an English and Japanese version were found on the page, meaning a western release is all but guaranteed when the game gets an official announcement. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood originally released in 1993 for the PC-Engine, and featured the protagonist Richter Belmont, who was previously revealed to be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Symphony of the Night was released in 1997 for the PlayStation 1, where it would go on to inspire a multitude of games to come. Both titles have been repacked before, in the PSP's Dracula X Chronicles.

Update: The ESRB has also rated this game on September 24th with the title of "Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood" and gives it the following description.

Rating Summary: This is collection of two action platformers in which players assume the role of a vampire hunter battling Dracula and other creatures. From a side-scrolling perspective, players traverse Dracula's castle to kill fantastical enemies (e.g., zombies, demons, minotaurs). Characters use whips, swords, axes, and magic to defeat enemies. Pixelated blood is depicted when players' character and creatures are killed; some attacks result in decapitation and dismemberment of creatures, including a boss character that loses its body parts and entrails.

Konami has made no official announcement at this time.

youre worse than a casual
Probably, I was just skimming through the game and trying to see what why the game had such a strong reputation, if I actually tried to play and learn the mechanics I believe I could fare better, it was a long time ago when I tried to play it

"Pixelated blood is depicted when players' character and creatures are killed"
Makes it sound like they're NOT gonna be ports

Symphony of the Night was such a good game, I wouldn't mind playing it again, though I'd really want to play it on the go... (Switch, lol).
..or you could play it with the Dracula X Chronicles on Vita, which has Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night and Akumajou Dracula Peke on it. Vita has a sleep mode and is even tinier then the Switch.

Another puzzle solved!

Don't have a Vita, and enjoy the larger screen of the Switch. :P otherwise the Vita one is a great bundle!

I know. I possess all 20 units that were sold in the whole world.

I wonder what the price of this new bundle will be?

It has only been rated for PS4 so I would not expect Switch at the time. Could always get released elsewhere later though.

Dont worry, the start of the game isnt stupidly easy if you're new to the series. It can get really easy later on if you use spells or a few particular weapons. I very much recommend playing sotn or aria of sorrow (I personally prefer aria) and playing the rest of the gba and ds games if you like those.

Have you not played the games? The blood was pixelated, and there was plenty of it, in all versions of it.
but why mention something so obvious? and so specific?
Most of the Castlevania games are pixelated, so I suspect there's something more than that in here.
And for your information, I played all of them.

It's because the rating system often details a description of what gave the game that specific rating. Pixelated blood and violence often get a "teen" or "13+" kind of rating, while the more detailed the violence and gore, the higher the rating may go. And if you've got nudity? Well, that's definitely a "mature" rating regardless of gore/blood detail.
