Ok awesome and thank you for clearing that up. Much appreciated. So I take it SX OS/Pro supports NSP loading as well? Any idea if the SX OS/Pro does or will support themes in the future? So essentially if you do not use the SX setup at the time being then you can auto boot to RCM but still need a phone/pc etc to push the payload to the Switch.....but the SX dongle has that file already there, just plug it in and start the Switch with power and volume up, and can be given a update any time one comes out that adds new features etc.

SX OS/Pro supports .NSP files as well. I just mentioned .NSP files because there are free CFWs that support .NSP files as well so unless you want convenience or raw .XCI file loading, I would forgo SX OS/Pro for the free alternatives.

Also, if I take that route I basically have to send a payload over using TegraRCMGUI every time I want to enable everything...........but do not have to worry about the jig as long as I enable autoRCM. Also what you are saying is I can throw it into sleep mode to avoid having to send the payload over again? Thanks very much for all the info and catching me up a bit.

I have a couple quick questions:
- Is there a way to get to RCM from Horizon? I'm using RajNX if it matters.

- If I update to a new firmware, do I need a new nand backup of my system on that firmware?
E: if I update using Choi so I can downgrade later

Hekate is not a CFW, it is a bootloader. Meaning its role is to boot into CFW such as ReiNX or Atmosphere. Since you're new to the Switch scene, I would recommend ReiNX; it has all of the functions that SX OS has (apart from raw .XCI loading which as previously stated is a non-issue) while retaining the user-friendliness of SX OS. And yes, you can just use sleep mode instead of resending payloads. Sleep mode works very well on the Switch and the battery drain is minimal. Lastly, I would recommend sending payloads using TegraRCMSmash instead of TegraRCMGUI as TegraRCMGUI has had some issues that are not present with TegraRCMSmash. TegraRCMSmash is also easier to use as all you need to do is drag and drop the payloads onto the exe (once you install the libusk drivers). Full directions for TegraRCMSmash can be found either on the GBATemp thread or its GitHub page.

Hey all. I recently ordered a NS Atmosphere pay load injector and it came in earlier today. This is my first time trying to mod my Switch. I was planning on following the Reinx guide posted below. I’m on firmware 5.1. My questions are below.

1. I’ve seen some people have upgraded to 6.0 on other thread but is there any reason to do so?
2. I should just stay on 5.1 for now right?
3. Also is this a good guide or should I be following something else?
4. Any other suggestions for a first timer modding my Switch? I will be primarily using this mod to play backups of my game carts so I don't have to carry them around with me. I don't plan on doing much else but I'll probably load a few emulators to play around with. I also want to backup game saves. Online play is not important to me. I plan on airplane mode and blocking stuff on my router.

i'm trying to do a tinfoil network install. When I get the switch successfully connected to install the nsp and I click to install it on the SD Card this appears:
"An error occurred: Read
CNMT:24: Failed to find cnmt file entry!

Press any button to exit."

Any idea what this would mean? I also downloaded the "network tinfoil nsp's" on my windows laptop and transferred it to my mac because my windows ones were not cooperating.

I'm a bit confused.
I have 2 Nintendo switches, one I want to keep up to date with ofw, and the other I have modded (case and joycon) and want to put lakka on.
My stock switch has the serial number XAW400048xxxx that I bought last year and has been updated to fw v5.1.0
My modded switch has the serial XAW1005363xxxx and has fw v4.0.1 (never updated) I bought it a few months ago
I've been able to run hekate4.0 and homebrew on both systems. Lakka runs fine on my stock switch but I have issues on my modded one. It will not boot using NXLoader to start Hekate, but I got it to work once by using TegraRcmSmash1213 (I added roms and now it blackscreens)
I'm wondering if it is an issue with the firmware on the modded switch and the 256gb sdxc card I'm using or if it is something else. I've held off of updated my stock switch because I dont know if I will have to try to transfer my saves and use the modded switch as my ofw switch.

If your console doesn't have the exFAT update, it will not load any exFAT formatted SD cards, CFW or OFW. You can exFAT either by updating your console to the latest firmware or using ChoiDujourNX.

I am about to take all the info you gave me and start hopefully putting it to use by following a guide for ReinX + Tinfoil CFW setup. I suppose it should do everything I currently need to do.....just need to looking into RCM mode as I have no jig and don't want to scratch the inside of the joycon rails etc with a raw paperclip etc

I have yet to even scan for my wifi in fear of updating to 6.0 etc and was unsure how to manually get it to 5.1

Correct. I would recommend picking the exFAT option after you press choose in the bottom right (it'll make more sense when you're in the actual homebrew).

Ok thanks again for all the quick responses! Last question for now....is pin 9 and 10 ok to bridge? I see a lot of mention that it is 1 and 10 but noticed people using the tinfoil method on the right joycon doing 9 and 10...thank again!

If you bridge pins 9 and 10 together, your right Joy-Con will be semi-bricked. Bridge either pins 1 or 7 to 10.

If all of your fuses are burnt or if your Switch is fried due to high voltage, you cannot recover from those bricks with just a NAND backup. However, there are no ways of currently doing either of those to your console.

Wow and thank you for the heads up. I am glad I asked you before I blindly followed this tutorial. I am just trying to figure it all out before I touch anything. I guess my main question is once I make a jig / receive it and can get into RCM what would be the first thing I should be looking to launch in order to backup my NAND ----> would that be done through Hekate? Yes, you should try referring/following to this guide as it has a lot of sub-tutorials on how to do certain things such as backing up the NAND.
