Hacking Wii without disc drive cannot play wii games of usb.

I have a 2nd that doesnt have a disc drive inside but assuming it needs one to play wii games of usb? I tried installing dx cios to both 249 and 250 and still nothing. It can play gc games fine and it has gc ports so right now im having it as my gamecube. Is there a way to play wii games without the disc drive?

nope - you need a drive. You can get away with stripping the drive and leaving the controller board in but you need that at a minimum

Yes but they don't work without a drive in the console (or at least the controller board from one). The loaders all make calls to the drive and if it's not there they won't work.

Can confirm, when I removed my wiis disc drive I was given an error shortly after launching anything.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it is for all loader since it is not the loaders that need the disc drive but the games themselves.

This thing doesn't happen to me on GX. (Then again I use d2x cIOSes, which I heard doesn't have this problem.)
