You can't really stop yourself from breathing though, can you? You can hold your breath or not breathe in anything, but sooner or later your reflexes will kick in and force you to breathe.

Your eyes can dry up and split, and spread an infection to your brain. So yes, you can die from not blinking, however, it takes effort to not blink.
