The other coldboot exploit SciresM was referring to was said to be theoretically possible on firmwares < 3.0.2 meaning its firmwares 3.0.1 and below. If he meant firmwares 3.0.2, he would have used the less than or equal to sign and not the less than sign. However, since 3.0.2 and 3.0.1 share the same number of burnt fuses, one could just downgrade to 3.0.1 anyways if the exploit ever gets discovered and subsequently released.

Playing the teacher, I see. That's why I said that I am not sure. I didn't have the source in my hand. :D

Hi all - could somebody please confirm if my thinking is right?
When emunand becomes available, if I upgrade it to the latest firmware and use it for all my official online stuff e.g. fortnite, eshop etc, it should for all intents and purposes look like a regular switch to Nintendo.

I can then use my sysnand for homebrew, backups etc and NEVER go online with it - thus preventing a ban.

If this is the case, why isn't emunand a bigger priority? Seems like the perfect best of both worlds.

Or you can do it exactly the other way (which makes more sense).
And that's why mos people want it. To have offline EmuNAND and hack on it and have online SysNAND and play online (which is paid P2P, way to go Ninty )
It isn't a priority, because:
1. you can create a backup of your clean NAND and then restore it for "safe" online.
2. It is not needed for "hacking". (You know what disadvantages it has and you don't have to do it. If you do it the right way, you are pretty much safe. SO there is no rush for it.)

this is bs, of course its important. it's just very hard to implement.

and constantly flashing a nand is not even remotely recommended.
Why did we ditch EmuNAND on 3ds then? It's a good option to have, but its not needed.
Why isn't reflashing the NAND recommended? I am not saying to reflash it daily. Just when you want to go online, you reflash to clean nand... Its not dangerous, just takes a really long time.
Its not like you're going to destroy the NAND.

everytime you flash a nand youre playing with fire. battery drains up, a ram bit flips, the console freezes,... and you're done. flashing a chip is always dangerous.

also you cant compare 3ds and switch because the latter has much more strict cert checks, making much more valuable to keep a completely different garden for homebrew/backups which is always offline.

In that case everything is dangerous because sh!t can happen every time. You can brick your switch just by launching hekate because sh!t can happen.
This is not a good argument.
And when you are flashing it back and it freezes, you can try and flash it again...
And I can compare it to 3ds, because if you are offline (like really offline) SysNAND is as safe as EmuNAND (if you are doing it the right way)...

There's another very important thing you need: PATIENCE

atmoswhere?/Thermoswhere will probably be released on Summer 2019.

We don't in the first place!!

You might not do, however I would very much like that functionality.

I can then keep my sysnand totally up to date and clean for online use, and have the ability to boot in to an emunand which will be kept totally offline to mess about with hacks / homebrew, without Nintendo ever having to know about it.

End result is having the best of both worlds on one Switch, without getting banned.

the thing is, people want to be online. if i wanted to be permanently offline id already put any cfw. There's people waiting for an emunand option to be able to switch between vanilla OS and a patched one.

if you're using 2 nands, its totally unintuitive to be flashing between two nand dumps each time you want to (for example) play some online mario kart. it's absurd, please stop arguing about it.

And when you are flashing it back and it freezes, you can try and flash it again...

afaik if you fail to flash the nand, you get a brick. but im not sure on what level of the bootloader the nand and RCM take part

Then boot to OFW and be online? I am doing that since day 1 (of sx os). Even going online with CFW and still nothing (maybe because I am in EU so all telemetry is off, who knows).
For your second point, I can tell that you dont understand it. RCM = recovery mode. Which means it is independent on NAND.

We ditched emuNand on the 3DS because true sysNand solutions were made available.
As far as we know a sysNand solution like A9LH or Sighax won't come for the switch in a long time (or ever).

A9LH/B9S or Sighax are bootrom exploits, which we have on the Switch. They don't care about NAND at all. With them, you can "hack" your 3ds, but it does not care if it is SysNAND or EmuNAND.

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
