Hello,
I’m hoping someone has some idea here. My son’s new 3ds xl fell about a foot, while inside a jacket, powered on but in sleep mode. Now it doesn’t turn on.

- No visible signs of damage at all.
- No activity from either either screen at all.
- Led suggest battery charges/depletes as normal.
- I’ve removed both the SD card and game cart.
- fully stock, no CFW or Homebrew
- When turned on blue light is on.
- Does NOT make poping sound.
- Does NOT turn itself off.

Recovery mode is L+R+UP+A ? No change in behavior when I tried this.

I did try removing the battery. No help.

I do have some NTRboot flashcards. I haven’t tried NTRbooting this guy. That’s a good idea. Thanks.

There is definitely no pop. Also, it doesn't turn itself off... it'll happy stay with dark screens and blue LED for hours till the battery dies.

You can try:
  • renaming the Nintendo 3DS folder, allowing the n3DS to make a new one.
  • SysNAND Restore (Safe) Forgot, it's stock
  • CTRTransfer (after you NTRboot hack it)
If those three two don't fix the issue, hardware failure is suspected.

If your LCDs and sound work in Recovery Mode, the most likely candidate is the camera like what @Kubas_inko mentioned.

- System will not NTRboot with known good flashcart/sd card/magnet.
- Sound is turned all the way up, there is no sound
- System will not boot to recovery mode.

You are doing something wrong on the NTRBoot part. Just retry, maybe with a stronger magnet. Are you sure that the flashcard is flashed or switched to ntrboot?

I made sure I was doing it right by using the same sd, magnet, flashcard, and battery in my n3ds....

Nothing against you. Just saying that NTRBoot problem is never caused by the 3DS (unless you destroyed the cartridge slot) but by the person. Make sure that the flashcard has good contact (put a piece of paper under it).

I didn't take offense... What I mean is, I used the same set of SD card, flashcard, and magnet, and battery on a different n3DS to practice first, just now, and could get into SafeB9SInstaller 3/4 tries. Then tried the one that is broken, I couldn't get in any of the 6 or 7 tries. I did reseat the flash card and SD card a couple times each between some attempts. Just got the same no LCD/no sound, just solid blue LED.

If ntrboot doesn't work its a hardware problem.Possibly unrecoverable. Before throwing it in the bin open it and see if anything is loose. Especially ribbon cables.

If there's an hardware fault I don't see how NTRboot could ever work
